Seventy_Yard_FG
If I decided to go to Mars with Spacex or Virgin and just stay there, would I be relieved of having to pay taxes in the United States?

However, I expect more people to come. I can’t control whether they decide to live off the land or get supplies, but I can guarantee you some of them are going to want my wares, and will want to trade
Steve 17
That's great..... however should you trade for some other persons items that were brought from the flat planet...... those things will have already been taxed...... be sure to trade with a scale adjusted for the increase of such said item. DrPhilly
The answer is no. You are responsible to declare for as long as you keep your citizenship. If you denounce the IRS will charge you with an exorbitant tax for leaving. I know a few people who've decided to denounce due to ongoing tax issues. However, you will be eligible to make up to about $100k tax free each year. You'll still have to declare though.
MidMoFo
First thing you would need to do is set up an LLC. Then all your travel expenses can be written off as losses of income for years and years, your trip to Mars is going to be expensive. I also highly recommend you take Abracadabra with you, you can write off his travel expenses as "business client entertainment”. After setting up an LLC, not only can you write off your expenses, you may still be able to apply for government PPP loans or other grants given to LLC’s that are not offered to private individuals. Not only can we keep you from paying taxes, we’re going to get the government to pay you!!! PM me if you have more detailed questions. We need to send you and your comrade to outer space ASAP. Boogyman
I've seen this movie before! OP is trying to back into a crazy discussion instead of just stating what's on his mind! Quick, change the channel!

If you decide to go, you won't make it there. It costs $28 million to go into orbit. You can still have any fantasy you like, for free, in your head.
