Own it, haven’t really played yet. My neighbor has been playing it and loves it. We see each other grilling from our respective pitches during quarantine and he talks about the fun he’s having in this and I talk about the fun I’m having in FF7 Remake lol

I was super interested, but the main character is just way unlikable IMO...How are the gameplay and mechancis? Is it pretty immersive as an open world Zombie game?

I own but only played once for like 2 hours. My neighbor has the game and seems to really enjoy it. Was playing Days while I was playing FF7R. I lent him FF7R last weekend when I saw him outside, but not sure if he is still playing this. I am saving my gaming for LOU2 unless I spend the next 2 weeks picking back up Horizon ZD

Have down time to kill living in a new place. I'd say about 3-4 hours in the main character grew on me and maybe another few hours I really enjoyed it. I think I am over 35+ hours in now and having a solid time. Once in a blue moon I stumble on a massive horde and its a mad dash to escape without getting kilt with the quickness

Spoilers for anyone who hasn’t played yet….

so I found Sarah south of the original map and after about 10 missions it’s has us ride back north to go to her old work facility. Everything is still up and running and she uses biometrics to open the front gate. The Siri-like A.I. Said something like "750 days since last check in”. My brain knows I’ve seen 8xx "days gone” every time I pause (832 days as of this post), so when the AI said that my brain immediately went "whoa whoa whoa… that means like 3ish months into the end of the world, shawty got back here some how?

maybe 5 mins or mo-cap dialog goes on before I get control again, and all these corpses are out front in and around cars. Shot of death to deacon’s horror as he’s examining the remains…. Seems like something that would have happened near the beginning of the chaos… so now I’m wondering is Sarah knew/played a role in it?

I struggled to get into this game. I think it's because I just dumped so much time into Red Dead 2. I struggle finishing open world games.

There are Nero camps (abandoned like research pop-ups with mini-puzzle solving to get health/stamina/slow-mo boosts, as well as zombie nests (basically burnable piles that zombines hibernate in) that you can burn down... but that's about the limits of the open world. So if I'm near those I will stop (occasionally you will find a marauder camp you can wipe out to gain XP, Trust with local camps, and open new fast travel location) but I'd say 95% of my gameplay has been missions which always keeps me moving forward, on track, and experiencing the dialog-heavy story which is what I enjoy playing these games for.

See I try to stick to the missions and then get sidetracked with other sheet then I spend hours on nonsense then don't feel like getting back into the story and spend another few hours on the actual mission. I'm just flat out terrible with open world lol.

Red Dead was probably the only huge open world I've actually finished. So when I was days gone was red dead with zombies it basically killed my wanting to play it with any excitement

I didn’t play red dead, but I played a solid portion of Horizon last year, and most of the fetch quests there were soooo far removed from the main plot line that I found myself burning out and losing track of where the story was. Thankfully days gone plays much more like an uncharted or lost of us with loose open world aspects that really are minimal and rarely take you off track from the main game story.

the lame biker doodes were super meh my initial play of a few hours. But I came back to it recently (after around a year or more) and I don’t even know how long I played until I connected with the main character but I honestly can’t even remember not liking the protagonist or remember when I wasn’t excited for his journey

Beat the main game this weekend. What was WILD to me is that the post-game playthrough, typically where you would find undiscovered items, go after collectibles, etc. in these sandbox style games.... the post-credits game has ACTUAL MISSIONS STILL!!!!

Like.... they are still developing the story (and completing unfinished storyline progress meters) in the POST CREDITS part of the game!!! Never seen this before! Some random review showed up in my recommended youtube (maybe because I was looking up strategy videos for something the other night) and I'm 5 mins into watching it while killing time during work, and its pretty solid watch. The message is basically people who slept on the game or gave up early on (me) back in 2019 when it first dropped.

@jrsu37 - surprisingly an "easy" platinum. There are 40 hordes in the game if I am recalling numbers correctly. "Killing your First Horde" is a story-based trophy and the only horde-related one. I killed all of them because I wanted to have fun and enjoy the post-game storyline and misc things, but killing them wasn't even a trophy or needed for platinum so I could have easily shaved plenty of time off. I think the only "requirement" is getting enough "Trust Points" with various camps throughout the game map, and you gain trust by completing missions and clearing hordes, so realistically you will have to kill some hordes just to get LVL3 trust with every area. Also, just to get through long games I otherwise would abandon due to not beating them in a short enough window of time before "life" happens, I'm just playing most games like this and Ghost of Tsushima on easy difficulty, and neither had platinum trophies tied to normal or hard or new game plus completion, which was nice.

Yeah at this point I do most games on easy or cas difficulty...I'm here for the story and experience, not to rage and stuff lol.

I still need to fire this game up.

I need to figure out what is next for me. Since this game gave the zombie-killing, action-adventure vibe, I was thinking of continuing my NG+ playthrough of Last of Us II to get the Platinum (I started that game Friday after work when it came out, and beat it by Monday or Tuesday night, after a solid 30+ hours... started the NG+ a couple days later, made it back to the section of Seattle with the like 15 locations you can visit, and just burnt out and haven't returned to it.

But my mom and sis arrive tomorrow night to visit, so I won't be gaming during then and I know I can't burn through a ton tonight... and FF7 Remake Integrade I think drops the end of this week, so it will be challenging to not try diving into that first. The other title in my backlog is Valhalla (that I own) and I want to play Resident Evil 3 remake (owned), RE7 (owned), so that I can play Village (not owned)... but I'm not confident I'll keep up the momentum with playing regularly that I managed the past few weeks with Days Gone

Yeah I've played through TLOUII 4ish times, and that section of Seattle is just annoying. I appreciate the little open world aspect of that section, but it is just a slog upon replaying it.

Valhalla I just stopped playing. Was fun enough, but I just got bored of it. Currently playing through Mass Effect remaster. That first ME combat is just...Freaking horrible.

did you plat LOU2? That was my goal 2nd playthrough so i turned on those disability modes that make collectibles show up as different colors and ping when you do listening mode.

One of these FB groups I am on has people talking about 100+ hour Valhalla logs which have me a bit... uncertain. Never played Mass Effect but a buddy borrowed my 2nd PS4 I used to ha have years back so that he could play one of them.

No plat yet...I have been looking for all the stuff now, but still miss stuff here and there. I need to slow play, and just collect all the **** lol.

ME 1 is super frustrating...The gameplay is utter trash, but the story, and the remastered visuals, are worth it. ME 2 and 3 have really fun combat, and some out of this world visuals and audio. If you like Scifi, they are a must play IMO.

Also, you can bang alien chicks if that's your thing lol...Or human chicks...Or dudes...Whatever you're into.
