Under most circumstances, I wouldn't go for an ex-Cowboy player as it usually doesn't work out (Orlando Scandrick, Miles Austin, etc...), but Cooper is actually a talented player going back to his Raiders days, that would be better served as a high end WR2 than the WR1 they initially paid him to be.

 

If the Cowboys cut him and he could be had on a 1 year prove it deal for under $10 million, would you pull the trigger?

I think a lot will depend on Gallup and his recovery. If they think Gallup can recover and be a good #2 then they may move on from Cooper? But I don't want any part of it thanks.

Produce what?

Amari Cooper is entering year EIGHT and has 0 1200 yard seasons! How is that even possible? He produces like a number 2 WR yet is paid like a HoFer. He’s perpetually injured, even seasons where he plays 15-16 games he’s either lame or spending some of them going in and out of the lineup.
 

He has the reputation of Randy Moss but plays like Jake Reed. He’s one of the major reasons Dallas underachieves every year. One day when your kids ask you if magic is real, you can tell them you witnessed Amari Cooper’s disappearing act in big games.

In a league where Kenny Golladay gets $18million a year and Nelson Agholor and Curtis Samuel can earn $11million a year, you think Amari Cooper is going to accept a prove it deal for under $10million

He is Jeremy Maclin. At this point in his career and cost involved, hard pass.

Fair enough. Perhaps 8-9 million is an underestimate, but I have a hard time seeing him garner 18 million a year. Probably somewhere in the middle, which still wouldn't be cheap of course.

Yeah he seemed to disappear in big moments for the most part for the Cowboys, but I do remember him just killing the Eagles at times too. If he were to go to Washington it would be the best pair of receivers Wentz ever had. 

If we don't have a QB to make the throws, and find the open guy, this would just be a waste of money.

Im all for getting him, we missed out when he left Oakland. He’s a number 1 and all other good free agent receivers are gone.

Cooper traded to Cleveland.

The Browns get:  Cooper and a 6th rd pick

Dallas gets:  2022 5th and 6th rd picks

(I wonder if the 6 that Cleveland gets is a 2023 pick … it wasn’t specified in the report I saw). 
 

 

A week of blockbuster trades in the NFL continued on Saturday.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported the Cleveland Browns have agreed to trade for Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick. Rapoport added that the Browns and Cowboys also are swapping sixth-round draft picks in the deal.

Trades cannot be finalized until the new league year begins Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.

That was a steal for Cleveland. Especially since they will be moving on from Jarvis Landry.
