There are dummy years added in 2023-2025 to spread out the prorated bonus (according to OTC ... unless that hasn't been updated yet). If it has been his cap hit is only $6.5M in 2022.

If only we had drafted that one guy last year that played C for the best team in college football in 2020, that won the Rimington Trophy, was unanimous all-american and 1st team all SEC. He would have already had 1 year of NFL under his belt. What was his name again?

March 14, 20224 yr Love the Legend. I would **** about the $$, but his play...and that Super Bowl speech... I give him free reign forever.

Unless we somehow make the SB. But still, he could play in it and be the HT show. That's be brilliant. Love how he announced he's coming back. Working on that keg Sirianni sent over. Way to go, Nick! Is he the Ted Lasso of the NFL?

I just didn't want to see us use one of our 1sts (even when we had 3) on a player that likely wouldn't see the field in 2022. We'll have to see how this season goes, but it isn't necessarily Kelce's last season. Kelce's replacement might be sitting for 2 or 3 more years for all we know.

Nah, Stoutland will coach him up to help out along the line. Not like we don't have injury issues. Although last year wasn't as bad as it has been

Dickerson was supposed to be Kelce's replacement but was also billed as versatile to play guard. Due to injury he stepped in at LG and they like that combo with Mailata. And then comes Jurgens and they really like him so now they've rebuilt the O line to get young. And then old man Lane Johnson.

I don't see him beating out Seumalo, Dickerson, Herbig, or Driscoll for playing time there.

May 2, 20223 yr A little late to this thread, but I'm probably in the minority in thinking that giving Kelce the 1 yr/$14M deal was a bad move. Why? A few reasons (all of which also apply to stupidly giving Fletcher Cox the same sort of deal): 1. We're not a legitimate SB contender this year. Why waste $14M (even on a Future HOFer) on a guy who isn't going to be here when we are at that level? 2. Some may say, "Well, maybe he doesn't retire after this year and keeps playing!" Fair enough, and if he had the kind of year in 2022 that he had in 2021, and we're legitimate SB contenders, I'm all for bringing him back in 2023. But if that happens, then the logic behind taking Jurgens - who can't and won't play OG - is out the window. 3. If he does retire after this year, with the June 1st designation, he'll have a $9.675M dead money charge in 2023 and $11.5M charge in 2024. Yeah, I know the cap increases every year and makes these numbers less of a percentage of the total cap. Still, had they not given him the new deal, there would only be dead money charges of about $14M spread out over 2 years. That $8M total could buy some good FAs.
