Howie please get on this. The Cowboys just traded Amari Cooper for like a 5th rounder, we should have given that up too.

Not at that price.

I hope not. Let him air hump another teams therapists.

Are you talking about Watson or Cooper? Watson is 26 and All Pro, I’d easily give up two firsts with Howies poor track record.

I responded to a post solely about Cooper, lol.  I can't see paying him 20m.

From what I'm seeing on Twitter - couple of interesting nuggets.  Niners and Eagles out on DeSean Watson.  But Hurts apparently removed the Eagles from his Instagram bio.

Twitter is the new Philly airport.

He'd be a hell of an 'offensive weapon' type player though. He might run, he might (attempt to) throw it, The QB might hand it off to another RB, he might pass it .... Geez, I'm becoming Random Reglar :chair:

Howdy,  I guess I'm the weirdo who doesn't hate the QB who improved the Eagles so much.  Takes them to the playoffs 100% of the time so far.

Can't the Eagles find a guy like Watson who went 4-12 and was heavily praised for that while getting some $40 Million a year?    Hurts only costs 1.5 Mil a year.   Most star QBs make at least $20 Million a year,  Hurts only makes 1.5.  He must not be good.

Running QBs are best.  They're good almost immediately, and there are a lot of cheap and good years there.  When 2024 comes around, we'll have a better idea about Hurts.   Whether he's worth $40 Million a year, not just 1.5 M.

Almost all QBs are crap runners compared to Hurts.  Give me the good runner.

Let’s say 10% of the QB’s drafted become "good” starters. It’s probably less than that, but let’s say 10%.
A QB that can make plays with his legs can win you some games, even get you to the playoffs. In my opinion, being mobile buys that type of QB time to figure out the NFL passing game. There’s still a 10% or less chance he will figure it out, if he doesn’t, he’ll get beat up from running the ball and won’t last anyway.

So yeah, I’ll take the mobile QB because he’s not a complete train wreck while figuring out the passing game, but they have to evolve into a passer for their own health.

Hurts has one more year to figure it out in my mind.

Hurts didn't post to snapchat today so that means something is up.

He did a Tik Tok dance but wasn't wearing anything Eagles. Oh man!

Apparently his IG was changed, his Twitter never said Philadelphia Eagles QB.   I believe the other controversy was changing his location to Houston, but he’s from Houston and could be working out down there, who could blame him, the weather sucks here.  No one knows if he even changed it, (location).
This all means an NBA style 3 team deal is happening with the Browns getting Watson, the Eagles get Baker, and Jalen goes to the Texans as a b/u to Mills

Ewww. No.

They aren't going to get him so it's all a moot point. Watson likely doesn't want to come to Philly.

Zero chance this dude comes here. The Eagles can’t really manipulate the cap enough to give him the money he wants or give into his likely demands. Things like wanting the hugest paid receiver with him. Te Eagles barley have enough cap space to sign maybe one good free agent. No chance they get Watson plus other free agents. Heck there’s rumors out there that they’re trading Fletcher Cox, but by doing so they would incur at least a 25 mil cap hit so little to no actual cap saving in such a move. Financially the Eagles can’t really make such a move unless they can convince this dude to come here in a promise for riches later and that’s assuming he stays out of trouble. The GM that brings in Watson is basically putting his career on the line.

Howie is safe to bring him in as long as Lurie signs off on it.  Besides, there isn’t much Howie could do to get fired.

BS. Half the league insiders say they are out and half say they are in. Believe nothing this time of year until things are official.

Lets take a trip down draft-memory lane . 1st round picks in the somewhat recent era...

Devonta Smith

Raegor

Dillard

Barnett

Wentz

Agholor

Marcus effin Smith

Lane

Cox

Danny Watkins

So the last 10 Eagles #1 picks.

4 complete bust's with Wentz on his way to being considered #5 and Dillard potentially being #6

Career underachiever Barnett

2 Probably HOF players in Lane and Cox

and Smith who looks the part, but its just too soon to know.

So thats a fail rate of what....  70%?   With the exception of Cox and Lane, id trade any combo of 3 of the remaining 8 players for him. Hell.... id trade any 3 of those other guys PLUS one of Cox or Lane for Watson......  26yr old QBs of his nature just dont become available. ever...

I know it's the VERY unpopular opinion, however, if I had 3 first round picks, I'd draft all offensive linemen. Or at least 2. You can always get quality skill position pieces via FA.

You can get O linemen later in the draft, and it's the one position they draft well.

They need to use the 1sts on defense BADLY. And there's a lot of defensive talent in this class.

When have the Eagles ever given up multiple first for a veteran player? You always hear about them being involved, but they never actually do it.

Siri would be very disappointed

I saw that they still want 3 1st rounders plus more and players

That's a no

When have the eagles ever had 3 firsts in a single draft? This is unprecedented.

None of the other teams matching Houston's price would have 3 first round picks in one draft, the Eagles are lucky in that they can do it all in one draft, that said my guess is Houston wouldn't want to try and replace him this draft and would prefer the chance of two picks in the first round of the draft in '22, '23 and '24.

While true, ‘23 and ‘24 firsts aren’t nearly as valuable as firsts happening in a month and a half. You’d have to imagine they’d see that as the most valuable offer… PARTICULARLY because any team trading future 1’s would significantly devalue them by having Deshaun Watson alter the team’s final standings. That’s not the case with ours.

I'd broadly agree and trading three firsts in one year is preferable for the Eagles too, but when there's a black hole in your roster at QB, having 3 picks in this draft is probably only going to move your 1st round pick into the teens, out of the range of all the blue chip guys next year too, whereas if you have 6 picks over 3 drafts  you can trade up to get your guy.
