Classic Howie move is to wait now until he can get team friendly deals...so 1 year deals for cheap vets.

Ideal scenario would be Detroit trading back up to 19 from 34? giving us a 2023 1st and 2022 mid round pick.

I have been hoping for the same.  But depending on what NO does at QB prior to the draft and knowing they are picking at 18, Detroit may want 15 or 16 to jump ahead of them.  Considering that, do you trade 15 or 16 for 34 (and their 2023 1st)?  Have to assume they are likely going to stink again this year so likely a top 10 (probably top 5) pick.  I would.  But I would also push for 32 instead of 34 ... that allows us to exercise the 5th year option on the player we choose.

Yes I agree 100%. If giving up 15 then would take 32 rather than 34. Hopefully after selecting a top DL prospect with pick 16 there are 3 more players available we know we can take at 19... or possibly trade down again and aquire even more draft capital this year or 2023

It's been a quit day 2 so I think Howie has gone into the bargain searching mode.

Still need a wide out and a safety.

Wide receiver - I want Robinson, Smith-Schuster, or Landry but now think it'll be Watkins or Pascal.

Safety - I want Maye, Whitehead or Edmunds. Edmunds is still a possibility, but Burris, Peppers, or Gipson are more likely.

Howie doesn't sign any more "marquee" FA's because we are not ready to compete for the Division without a QB.

So most Free agents he gets from here on out will fill roles at bargain prices or taking a risk on a young player. Nothing really notable or team changing,  unless somehow we get Watson.

Getting Reddick is the "marquee" move this year, anything else will be value.

Maye off the market.

Howie striking out on all of the worthwhile S's and WR's and about to go dumpster diving 🙄

Or he drafts a S and WR high?

That possibility is fast becoming a reality I think. But I'm not sure how he addresses WR, S, CB and DE. DE is still a huge need. WR is a big need and right now they have nobody at S and nobody opposite Slay.

You don’t know how they feel about McPhearson and Epps.

Still a couple of quality players looking for a job. CB’s Donte Jackson & Darius Williams, WR’s Robinson, Landry, Pascal, Cole, safeties Matthieu, Edmunds, Kearse, LB Myles Jack.

Btw McCleod, Harris and Nelson are still FA’s and if they make it till next week, they might return here on cheap deals.

They’re evaluation doesn’t match the value. They’d never give Kirk 16-20 million annually. That’s ridiculous! Maye coming off an achilles injury at 29 got a 3 year contract. Really?!

Teams are overpaying and Howie is definitely not willing to pay those prices. He might be looking for bargains and think; "hey, we have a lot of draft ammo. If we can’t address some needs like WR, CB, S in FA, we will in the draft.”. Cheaper!

So here are my thoughts bud...

Firstly, yes sure we don't know how they feel about McPhearson and hey I think he was fine as a rookie last year. He was a 4th round pick. But a starter at this point? I mean I'm not sure. And Epps? Good player but very much a back up to me. I like that he has a role in this team but I don't think he's a full time starter.

There are still guys available and they are going to have to make moves for some of those guys. Right now they HAVE to draft WR and S. Right now really they need to draft CB high too. And that's not a good position to be in going in to the draft. We don't want Howie to need to reach and we really don't want Howie to be going WR high again.

It is very early days and there is still a lot of time and work to be done.

Think Howie is interested?

He's probably enquired and made calls. I'm sure he's never off his phone.

Eagles trade #15, 16, 2022 3rd, 2023 1st, 2023 2nd, Jalen Hurts, Miles Sanders for Deshaun Watson (with agreement that Eagles sign Will Fuller)

New theory they want Hurts to fail next season therefore are not giving him any help.

When you overpay a running back and quarterback eventually the team has no choice, but to start letting people walk.

Can we officially turn this into Phillies free agent moves? Far more exciting right now.
