Clowney can affect and destroy any given play, and his athleticism and explosiveness is 10x that of a Derek Barnett.

You are right he can but he doesn't and wont consistently. Barnett shouldn't even be anywhere in the same area code as Clowney but he is because of effort on Barnetts part. That is why people give stats on Barnett because he is matching and beating clowney when he shouldn't be and that is how sad clowneys effort is.

Clowney can absolutely destroy games and only does it once or twice a year. People would lose their minds if that's all they got out of him at the price he wants

YES. Barnett is a plus effort guy, and Clowney is a wasted potential guy. He doesn't seem to have his heart in it.

And yet Barnett gets better numbers. That's even more of a knock against the clown.

The depth at DE is not very strong.  Graham and Barnett are starters, they are decent though not stars.  The guys behind them need to step up and delivery performance as emerging players.  Sweat has showed something and this could be his break-out season.  Avery was hyped pretty well when he arrived via trade.  Miller is a draft pick, but yet to show anything.

Fans always want to get the fancy name players, Clowney is one of them.  He will be costly and there are questions about his efforts and fit to the DL.  It has been suggested that Curry may be a better fit to the DL.  He is familiar with the DL plays and reasonably productive.  He can hold his own and is distinguished on run plays and set the edge.  Having him on the rotation this coming season would spare some snaps to the young players a chance to develop.  A more productive way to fill the pipeline at a reasonable cost.

Jackson is a multi purpose Dline player. He can play DE as well as inside. Don;t see anything wrong with the Dline at this point unless there is a injury. Clowney is not the answer.

Clowney probably isn't the answer but I don't think DL is set. There are real question marks at DE and I don't think Jackson is going to play a whole lot on the outside.

It may not be set but, I don't see them dumping anymore money into the line this year. They have ton of money on that line they are not going to be elite across the whole line. They are however, elite at tackle and solid at DE and I think that is about all we are going to get

They probably won't no. I guess they may bring Curry back? But that's not going to be break the bank.

I don't believe Jackson ever lined up as an edge rusher. He has always be an interior rusher. He played DE in a 3-4 scheme, but that is not the same as 4-3 DE's.

When he played in Denver they played both 3-4 and 4-3. He was a DE in their 4-3 scheme and the 3-4 scheme there. Now in his SB year, yes they were a 3-4 that year. But yes he can play both.

Saw him at the Newark airport wearing an Eagle's Kearse jersey

Yes but has anyone checked for vague or cryptic Instagram posts?

Well to be fair after the super bowl year he seemed to be trending up and the following year he wasn't that far off from his super bowl year. Unfortunately he and the other 2 old guys all fell off a cliff last season.

Yeah to be fair to Howie, everything pointed to Agholor having turned a corner. For two years he had played well from the slot as a good number 2/3 receiver. It was clear he wasn't going to live up to his first round status, but there was nothing to suggest he was going to drop off a cliff as he did.

Why are we still talking about Clowney?

Everyone knows we're trading for Ngakoue

Why is this still circulating? I thought this rumor died off? The new rumor is Kaep to the Eagles right? 😂

This one won't go away until he signs for a team. Same with Kaep. It's an easy link for these writers I guess? We are a QB factory after all.

QB factory. Open mouth and insert foot. Nothing about their explanation of that pick makes sense.

I know, Clowney is afraid of the covid , he won't sign until it's gone

The Eagles made an offer and he hasn't accepted it yet? Must be a rumor. 😀

All this talk about how the Eagles have no money yet the Patriots in their cap situation found a way to sign Cam Newton. I think it’s time we stop calling Howie the best GM in the game.

Ok.  But he's Top 5?  Maybe Top 3?

You're gonna pat the Patriots GM after watching the GOAT walk out the door because he picked up Cam?

Cam is done. If he was in his prime sure but signing him now is like when McNabb went to the vikings

Not patting the Pats GM on the back, but how many SBs they have won compared to Roseman??? With that being the case Howie’s suspect drafting has more to do with the Eagles salary situation right now than anything, because he’s been forced to compensate in free agency and trades to overcome his mistakes. I think putting Howie in the top three at this point isn’t realistic. Top five is a stretch.

That would be Belichick........and he's also proved that he's not the best at drafting.
