Deal Barnett to the AFC. Sign Clowney "IF" you think he can stay healthy. If he gets hurt, it's a horrible move, but who knows could be getting the tail end like the Packers got with Reggie. He's only 27. Must admit as compared to the ENTIRE Eagles Off season, this is "interesting" .

Greatest secondary in the NFL is the one who only has to cover 1 and uh .... BOOM.

Man his numbers are piss poor. Sorry I even said the R word in relation to Jadveon. Only thing in common is that draft position lol

NFL is kind of absurd in 2020 if a guy with 3 sacks really thinks he deserves a Contract at 20 mill / year. LOL

But what do you then do next year? I mean presumably it'll still take at least a first plus Barnett to get Adams? So what do they do in a year when Clowney also walks? And with the cap situation how do the give Adams a long term deal? I like your thinking I'm just not sure how it all fits.

Tend to agree here my friend. Not sure how they can make both Adams and Clowney fit. If we got Adams and Clowney plays well, I don't see anyway we could lock up both of them long term.

If Clowney walks next year and we have traded Barnett, then DE looks incredibly thin.

Add in that BG must be in his final year or two? Even if he goes beyond this year then surely he'd have to be really managed? His snaps limited?

Looks like the only big news is signing Peters again. We got screwed with.

Haha how exactly is that big news? How is that making Philly a better place? Or whatever it was Baldy said.

Yeah I figure it's Clowney, that's the "big news" name now whether Jadveon's ready to become a serious player in this league? That's another question.  With our additions at DT, it's a good place for him. If he can beat one on one's he "could" post some big numbers. Good place for his agent to convince him to gamble.  Howie shouldn't pay him much which he won't.

Give him an incentive laden deal. If he pans out , figure out how to get the cap space later.

Long-term, the best move to make would be to trade for Adams.

Most likely though, it's going to be a DE.

No longer active?

If so, I'll go Mamula. He wasn't as bad as people remember, and number of games seems right.

If currently active?

Curry? Though I would guess he has played more games than 77.

It isn't. Hence my post

Mamula wasn't 'bad', he had 31.5 sacks in 77 games (0.41/game, Trent Cole had 0.55/game). Not 'great' but not horrible. He just shouldn't have been the 7th overall pick in the draft... or even a 1st round pick, for that matter.

I don’t think you will need to give up a first plus for Adams. He’s not a shut down corner nor is he a multi-sack end. The Jets May be looking for a Ramsey like payday, but in truth they don’t have that type of player despite how good he is. If need be Howie can figure a package to soften the blow just like he did with the Wentz trade. Even if Clowney walks you get draft comp, but if the cap is decreasing it’s highly unlikely he gets the deal he’s looking for just like he didn’t this year. Like it or not regardless the Eagles will need to make some difficult choices about players next season so there’s not point to worry. Howie always finds ways to work it out. Still this is just my opinion on all of this and as such I wouldn’t be upset if it doesn’t happen.

When Warren Sapp get drafted after you it makes you look bad. If the Eagles didn’t draft him someone else would have too. Truth be told if Mamula didn’t get hurt people might think differently of him. Mamula and Brandon Graham are very similar players and unlike Graham; Mike always had a real sack presence playing on the other side.

Peters is basically just business as usual. Not a big move at all.

Now Everson Griffen reports of wanting to be an Eagles has surfaced. Again most of these moves unless it’s Yannick or Adams don’t seem that big on their own. We will see how it goes.

If pressures were looked at like they are now.... People would love Mamula

I think people are undervaluing the safety position nowadays (probably because of player safety and guys like Dawkins or Sean Taylor destroying people over the middle can't exist in today's league).  The position that he plays is becoming more and more important in the NFL.  Teams ran more dime last season than base packages.  I don't even label guys like him as a safety anymore.  He's a corner, an in-box run stuffer, a commander, and he can also be the last line of defense as a traditional free safety if you need him to.  He's on a Dawkins like trajectory, and he is probably just going to continue to get better.

The Eagles might not be picking all the right players, but they definitely understand the formula on defense.  Schwartz wants an all-purpose secondary, and that makes so much sense to me.  I'd give up some valuable assets for Adams.

Oh I agree, if this is the big news then that's really disappointing.

I don't think they can demand Ramsey money no. But they can ask for a first plus Barnett i think. Especially as next year they'd need to give Barnett a contract which whilst it won't be a big contract it'll be for pretty decent money.

A First plus Barnett seems a little steep to me especially since I don’t think there is a lot of suitors out there in order to make a deal to go where Adams wishes to go. Even though they have to pay Barnett it’s nothing compared to them having to resign Adams at his demands. I don’t think they’re going to simply give him away either, but some of the compensation I have heard was like 2 second round picks. The same thing kind of applies with Yannick as well, but he might be more willing to get traded to a place where he can just get paid than Adams is.

In Schwartz’s defense he may be asked to cover or even play in the box at times, but I don’t think he’s ever going to get the opportunity to blitz as much as Dawkins was allowed to.in any case if the Eagles can swing it then they should try. I still do not think the Jets could get two first round picks for him.
