So we want Clowney so we can get a super bowl? I don't think he is as good as you think he is. He is Brandon Graham minus the work ethic and plus behavior problems. That POS isnt worth it.

People didn’t think Blount was worth it. You know the play he hurt Wentz he was the guy who blew up the screen and then ran all the way to the other side to hit Carson? I think you’re blinded by your love for Wentz to see clearly here.

Nah I just dont want scumbag cheap shotting dirty players on the team I root for. He is a proven POS.

Man he must have really wanted to take that head shot. I hope he never plays a down again.

Hate to break it to you, but the Eagles over the years have had plenty of so called cheap shot artists play for them, and I don’t care what he is if he helps the Eagles win.

That says it all right there. Hey I don't care if the guy hands out threatening brain injuries just as long as we win! Wow..

How many took count em TWO dangerous shots at TWO different eagle QB's then proceeded to trash the fan base because they were ticked about it?

LOL that isn't what he said at all and some of you need to stop being Eagle's fans. Do you know how many dirty hits they put on teams in the Buddy years? Anyone who doesn't love that defense and what they did are flat out frauds as fans. The end. There is no wiggle room. This is football. Start watching cricket or something.

You never watched a Buddy defense.

I sense much overprotective Wentz hate in you right now. You will feel differently if he’s on the Eagles and getting sack fumbles to win games.

Couple things. I like being an Eagles fan so no thanks. Two, I was in diapers for "buddy's defense". But I can tell you this. I am a medical professional and I can tell you how much more we know about head injuries than 30 years ago. Please come to my hospital and go to the Nuerology dept to the TBI ward and try that "its football" crap. I'm also a vet that has seen up close and personal what TBI's have done to friends. That "this is football, go watch cricket" is an outdated and Neanderthal way to look at it. Why don't you let some people spear you in the head with a helmet tough guy? But hey who cares if they don't remember their kids names at 50 and have to eat everything with a spoon as long as YOU are entertained right?

I will boo his A$$ every time he takes the field. He also tried to take Foles head off too. Remember that? But hey go cheer for a guy that insulted you.  But this is a moot point. He isnt coming here.

Do you  think that if this rumor was really true, that Howie would have already accounted for it?

The eagles were projected last offseason to be $35 million over the cap this year.......Howie knows exactly what he has to work with now and next year.

I completely trust Howie with managing the cap. Yes, you can always create room by turning salaries into bonuses and moving the hit into future years but that money doesn't just disappear - at some stage you still have to pay for it so its more kicking the can down the road. The other thing is those restructured players become harder to cut the next couple of years so it limits your flexibility (see AJ right now). So yes, we were 35m over this year and we are now fine but doing so is what has created an even bigger issue $50m over for next year.

The $50m hole will become $27m if we carry over cap room (which means no Clowney). You do have some easy savings AJ (8m savings) and Goodwin still counted under his old contract (7m savings), so that leaves $12m over. Then its gets a bit more complicated. Graham can't be cut but his cap at $18m is too high - he will get restructured but we are then locking ourselves into 2-3 more years with him. Same with M.Jackson at 13.6m but not sure if signing him longer-term is the best idea as we can get a clean exit from his contract after 2021 if not restructured. And so on. But if you sign Clowney for say $15m this year, you have to find another $15m elsewhere next year.

Then just get a sign and support them playing flag football and protest violent sports like the people in Brewster's Millions. I like big hits. I love the buddy years and still want guys like Dawk around who lay people out. Couldn't care less what anyone thinks about that. I did MMA back in the early days and trained without headgear so I'm not some babe in the woods with concussions.

This whole discussion is way out of hand because of sensitive people on here. We don't care what Clowney did. Until he turns into Vontaze Burfict we aren't going to care what he does in midnight green either.

Oh good lord. You can still have big hits and have tackle football. No head shots is a reasonable rule for safety sake.

Wentz already said he didn't think it was a cheap shot and would be ok with Clowney. Trusts Howie to do whats best for the team.

It all comes down to cost. Overall, I think Clowney has been a bit overrated in his career. But, he manhandled the Eagles oline in the playoffs.

No kidding. I don't think anyone here wants to see people hurt, but it happens sometimes and some of us love the violent hits. If it happens to someone on the other side and it increases the chances for the Eagles then so be it. If a guy comes here and lays other QB out instead of him playing for Seattle and possibly taking Wentz out even better.

Heck, Dave had an entire thread up about a game where the Eagles knocked a ton of players out. A lot of us love this stuff.

Remember when Dawk almost disentegrated Crumpler. Man... good times. And no one can forget the Dawkplex.

I'm sure people will love him when he only shows up 1 or 2 times in a whole season.

He's not coming to Philly so people don't need to worry.

My sources say he’s been spotted at the Philly airport.

Throw aside being a dirty cheap shot artist that he is. He is basically Brandon Graham minus the work ethic. Now I like Brandon Graham but he isn't special. And Brandon doesn't have the character issues. Why would anyone be excited to get Clowney?

I think graham is special in the sense that he is one of those unique players that comes up with timely big plays in big games.  He rises to the challenge. Plus he is a great teammate.

Exactly. Clowney is the opposite of that. Has more natural talent than Graham but Graham outworks him.

Oh several times yeah...

Clowney has the skills to be a JJ Watt type player, he just doesn’t care. That and he’s always injured. The fact that his number one highlight in college was because he was unblocked says it all. If he has to work, it doesn’t come easy.
