I appreciate the people who actually debate this. I sincerely don't believe this subject deserves to be dignified with a debate.

Buy hey, that's like my opinion man.

Porn keeps people from having real sex which this brings down the percentage of std transmittal.

women are often forced or tricked into doing porn...just like prostitution.

As someone who has always been anti-porn I don’t even see it as a strong argument towards legalized prostitution. If anything it’s an argument against it because the porn industry is filled with abuse and exploitation and it’s only gotten more "hard core” and gross as accessibility is so easy and people become desensitized to watching normal stuff.

 that avi has always creeped me out

I see a lot of people in this thread comparing this to other vices like alcohol and marijuana- but like, women aren’t substances to be used up. Women have been treated as sex objects for centuries - if we are trying to become a more enlightened and modern society that doesn’t use and judge women based on sex maybe legalizing prostitution isn’t the way to go.

I think that's part of the problem. Some people view them that way.

A lot of people do.. human beings aren’t commodities. And before anyone starts arguing with me that we are because most of us sell ourselves as part of a labor force - prostitution causes uniquely physical and emotional dangers that most professions do not… and I think it’s really hard for men to truly understand that from a female perspective.. the psychological damage. Maybe soldiers in active war would be the best comparison or argument for legalization. But I think most of us would agree that in a perfect world we wouldn’t need soldiers. I’m not sure why we would unnecessarily endorse this practice.

I was originally taking that position.  Then I couldn't help myself.

Hey man, some people drink in excess.  Basically the same thing, if you think about it.

Well...I mean...they make sammiches, too.  So there's that.

So wait, you want to make porn illegal?

Ok can you clarify this then... Should porn be illegal?

Thankfully nobody is using strawman arguments in this thread.

I've literally addressed that already

I guess we need to define the problems so they cannot be easily dismissed.  Legal or not many of these women will be drugged, beaten, and\or raped.  The safety of people in a legal profession is absolutely within the realm of a proper society's responsibility and laws should be made to protect them, even if those laws end up banning it.

And yes, you can make the exact same argument for porn and I would be ok with it being made illegal as well.

Right, like can you imagine how awful his life must be not being an avid porn consumer like the awesome chads in this thread? So sad. Hope things get better for you soon, Paco.

Yeah.  I'm indifferent when it comes to legalizing sex work.  I see some positives and negatives.  Like many things.  I think a more regulated industry would be safer.  Better screening and no need to hide it from people and law enforcement, etc...I also look at the morality portion of it and could see young women easily being manipulated into it.  In the end IDGAF.  Millions of young women are already out there whoring there bodies on camera for OF.

I don't think hunting should be illegal, so I must be an avid hunter!

I don't think doing cocaine should be illegal so I must have done cocaine at least once in my life!

I don't think voting for reality game show hosts should be illegal, so I must've voted for one!

Can't argue with bullet-proof logic like that.

Care to explain why Paco's worthy of your pity because of his stance on porn, then?

It is a political issue.

It's against our religious morals. It degrades and debases women. It leads to murder/rape and abuse. It spreads disease. It undermines the family unit.

I whole heartedly support it's legalization. :D

the answer is only allowing cartoon porn...which is totally not weird at all to beat off to, btw.

I can't explain why there should be a middle ground between porn being illegal and being an avid porn consumer. All things in life must be an all or nothing proposition. You like to indulge with ice cream once in a while? Nope, either you think it should be illegal, or you're a fat tub of lard that eats it every day like a fourth meal. Do you enjoy marijuana from time to time? Nope, must be illegal, otherwise you're a pothead that tokes up every weekend without fail. Not sure where the hell I get off thinking that there's such a thing as moderation. Thanks for setting me straight on this.
