Posted March 18, 20223 yr Shortly after it was announced that they brought back S Anthony Harris on a 1 year deal, the Eagles announced they’ve done the same with RB Boston Scott. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/03/18/eagles-re-signing-boston-scott/
March 19, 20223 yr Howie went on how the team needed to get more talent around Hurts, but he’s basically put the same team around him from last season.
March 19, 20223 yr Figured Marlon Mack would get a look with his familiarity to the HC. Guess we are just going into this season looking about the same

That’s OK. I’d rather not overpay like some of these teams are (but they are also in a much better position to do so). Kirk 4 yr/$72M?? GTFO with that nonsense. We have 10 draft picks …. best way to build the team for sustained success. Of course that means hitting on a higher frequency of those picks than we are used to, but ….
March 19, 20223 yr Good with this re sign also. Still need a 220 lbs+ downhill thumper for the rotation though. Prefer a day 2 or 3 draft pick, but if one doesn’t fall to us at a valuable pick here’s a couple names I would consider: Rashaad Penny, D’vonta Foreman, Devontae Booker, Malcolm Brown or even bringing Jordan Howard back.
March 19, 20223 yr Scott is kind of a weird case for me. I kind of take him for granted as a JAG but every time Sanders gets hurt and he gets opportunities he produces. They got him on the cheap so it's a decent move. I'm still hoping they take someone like Robinson, Allgeier, Ford, or White in the 4th/5th round.

Howie has been really disappointing this off-season...I mean okay don't overpay for average players but to just sit back and do nothing besides Reddick is crazy. Though with the exception of 2017 I've always found Howie disappointing.
March 19, 20223 yr Maybe Howie was double secret in on Watson and couldn’t pick a team building direction until the Watson thing was settled.

Overall I think Howie’s looking for the bargain basement stuff. On a side note some of these contracts aren’t really what they seem. They said the Reddick contact was like 14 mil a year, but actually I believe he’s only making 4 mil this year. Howie is supposed to be the master cap guy. He should’ve been able to do something here.

The Eagles need 2 power backs. The Eagles have too many small and fast rb/wrs. They lost in the playoffs because Hurts wasn't 100% and Howard was almost completely unavailable to run. Also need FB/TE overall big blocker out of the backfield. Ideally that FB/TE/ big blocker can also run the ball.

Whenever the Eagles sign a new guy to a multi year deal, before you see the details, it's always a good idea to assume that the Eagles are giving that player a pretty big signing bonus, which is spread out over the whole contract, and a very low base salary the first year. They also might give that player another big bonus check the year after, maybe option bonus, and a small base salary. By the end of the contract, there is a massive cap hit. But the first couple of years have very small cap hits. Fletcher has a massive cap hit of over 40 million. Some years in the future that will impact the Eagles, but not really this year too much.

Pretty much my point here though. The Eagles probably would have moved on one of these offensive players to help out Hurts. They’re basically just resigning their own guys and aren’t brining in anyone else. I would’ve liked to have seen the at least replaced Reagor, but so far nothing.
March 20, 20223 yr I like Scott for what he is, and he knows the offense. He's a 3rd or 4th RB who can help out when the others are injured.

As I understand it, the Eagles had a very high percentage of their players last year signed for this year. Additionally, 3 first round draft picks and a bunch of other draft picks. I don't think they get rid of Reagor. I would like to see him get fewer snaps if he doesn't get better.
