It means that they DON'T take a WR this year. Pascal is a 3 or 4 and he probably came cheap. They are going to take a WR early if they don't sign or trade for someone else.

He can point to this move regarding the great collaboration they have at NovaCare... don't worry about him ignoring the draft board and reaching for a player.

Relying on this guy and hoping Reagor improves is simply not enough. Now it doesn't guarantee drafting a WR if the board falls a certain way. If they end up with strong upgrades at defense, beefing up the O line for depth and adding a RB or TE to the mix that could be a good draft but the WR position group will still be weak. Then perhaps next offseason a major upgrade is made at WR. But this signing does not mean they are set at WR at all.
March 21, 20223 yr Solid player, solid move. Does not mean we are set at WR at all. (We basically have a borderline WR1 and a couple of WR3s.), but does add a solid veteran presence and big upgrade on JJAW as the big blocking WR. If the Eagles get Mathieu and bring back Nelson, then that's solid work in free agency and we can attack the draft. Definitely expect a WR in the first couple of rounds now though if this is the only move.
March 21, 20223 yr As a depth WR, I like it. He's not great, but he's certainly better than Reagor, JJaw, Ward, etc.

March 21, 20223 yr I thought the narrative was that the Eagles wanted a vet in the WR to teach the young guys the nuances of being a pro on and off the field. Not sure a guy with his level of success in the NFL is going to command a ton of respect from the young guys.

Zach Pascal is an upgrade over JJAW. The Eagles just got better at WR at the key position of Split End, or X. JJAW was so bad that they had their best WR, Smith, playing the SE or X position instead of JJAW. Now, Smith doesn't have to deal with press man coverage because he won't be playing on the o line. A TE - Tyree Jackson - could be playing where Zach Pascal is playing, provided he's healthy. I expect him to be good at some point.

Why is howie seen as some valuable asset. Its starting to drive me up the ceiling.. The man cant build a competitive roster for the long haul to reach 1 or 2 SB's. Only construct "shot in the dark" "blind squirrel" teams who may overachieve by being average one and done come playoff time. Cant even call these teams a dark horse, it would imply a realistic chance of winning, when clearly they're outmatched. Fans have hope because we love the team but enough is enough. Other fans care equally about their team as well.. But aren't delusional. Every game we bring up IF this and that happens the Eagles can win. How about some of these ideas become reality. Then you wont need a 1000 breaks to go your way or play near perfect games just to BARELY win.

No, the Eagles needed a big body Split End who can replace JJAW and they accomplished that. The Eagles already have their top 2 pass catchers in Smith and Goedert. They just needed to make sure that WRs who suck aren't getting a lot of snaps. JJAW sucked, and presumably Reagor won't get a lot of snaps and also suck. I'm hopeful that Reagor either doesn't get a lot of snaps or doesn't suck.

If the Eagles wanted, they could draft all WRs all the time and then there could be new terms like WR 17 and WR 23. But that would be bad.

Idk if you understand how science and probability work but I'm not convinced it will happen again. Especially with the evidence he has provided over the years.

Fully expecting Howie to draft Cox’s heir, a pass rusher (probably has to trade up for one) and...yes, a safety and a LB in the first two rounds. Probably trading down with one of those 3 first rounders that would make it less hard for him to use a high pick on a LB or S.

Giving his young QB who is in a critical year of assessment no help at all. I agree they need to go defense heavy but they can't overlook the offense either.
