You play Watkins in the slot but you give yourself options to move around. Watkins isn't a #2 and Reagor isn't a #6. The mere reality that Reagor will be here says a lot about the GM.

We have taken risk in the past but not the main one necessary. Changing GM and not that chip kelly bs lol a real qualified one. Simple as it is, every FO has a blue print beyond the coaches themselves. A certain mold if u will. This one doesn't work and the way and/or Lurie value positions isn't working. The pieces change but the results are the same.

Show us that you can work with this (and IMO it’s not all bad) and then we get you another top pass catcher.

What didn't work was trying to repeat instead of getting younger. I think Lurie is giving Howie and Siri 3 years to right this ship otherwise he's cleaning house but only time will tell.

March 21, 20223 yr He he he 94th out 94 graded receivers last year... Jackpot. No in all seriousness doubt we are done at WR but least he adds to the depth.
March 21, 20223 yr Given who the QB is it'd be about what I expected. Physical, good blocker, good route runner & decent hands. 27= adult in the room. I'm more concerned about TE-2 in all honesty.
March 22, 20223 yr I like the signing. Already the 2nd best receiver on the team. Just need Hurts to get better at reading defenses and going through his progressions

An upgrade over JJAW isn't saying much, just about anyone would be. As for 3rd/4th WR "thing" the coaches say it, they have depth charts for WR1, WR2, SlotWR. Siri called Watkins the #2, Reagor the #3 and JJAW the blocking WR in his post-season press conference. It's also just a way to rank the best receivers. Smith is clearly the best they have, hence the "#1" right now. Call it starters and backups if you like, Pascal is a backup WR coming here to...be a starter? Andy Reid always tried that with free agents. This guy is better than Reagor and JJAW. If it were me I'd draft a WR on day 1 or 2 and then cut both those bums. Smith, draft pick, Watkins, Pascal and Ward would be the group.
March 22, 20223 yr He might as well sign Julio Jones too. He has declined and had injury issues and will likely miss a chunk of games. Perfect Howie value signing.

March 22, 20223 yr Anything that pushes JJAW off the team, I am in favour off. Pascal suits fine as a replacement who can take his snaps and actually present a little bit of a credible receiving threat. Still need to add more to the group.

March 22, 20223 yr I bet if the last WR spot comes down to him and JJAW similar to last year they still keep JJAW.

And WR4 is more questionable than WR3. There are always 2 Ends and 4 Backs on the field. "Pascal is a backup WR coming here to...be a starter?" However, Pascal played 84% of the snaps last year. 2019 25 IND WR 14 16 13 799 74% 0 0% 101 24% 2020 26 IND WR 14 16 14 834 76% 0 0% 45 10% 2021 27 IND WR 14 16 13 872 84% 0 0% 62 15% Pascal has been a starter, playing 74% of the snaps or more the last 3 years.

I'm more concerned about TE-2 in all honesty. TE-2 or FB-1 or Big RB. Jordan Howard isn't signed. The Eagles take their power runner off the practice squad, after not having a power runner at all and not winning, and then they start to do power running with Howard and start to win. Jordan Howard isn't great, but he does the thing good enough that leads to wins. And one big back like Howard isn't enough. The Eagles need to have a starter and a backup at that important role. And the Eagles should have another good, big blocker in the backfield, not necessarily all the time, but, oops, all of our choices are 210 or lighter is not a good solution. I argued last year about how Mailata, Kelce and Johnson are all freakbeasts who could be used on offense. I still think that. Johnson caught a TD. All 3 of them, and basically any player who has those freakbeast combine numbers, that great athleticism, can play some role on the other side of the ball. All 3 of those players have top athleticism, and they have high levels of general football competence, and overall competence, in addition to their specific competence at their specific positions on the oline. Generally, a specialty fullback or a specialty H-B or a specialty blocking TE is not going to exist with freakbeast numbers. No college coach is going to let a FB who is the perfect size and speed of a freakbeast LB not play LB. They'll all be playing LB. A freakbeast TE coming out of high school gains weight and is converted to OL. If the Eagles can draft a TE that's 300 pounds and runs a 4.92 40, do that. He's a blocking TE, almost certainly going to be better than Goedert, and maybe that frees up Goedert to be one of the 2 best pass catchers on the Eagles. But most of the time those players don't exist. The role those big players play is limited, but important, and those freakbeasts get moved. They easily could do the job of big RB, FB, blocking TE, but they were moved to a position that's more important, that pays more, etc. Mailata - pro rugby player Kelce - HS Running Back Johnson - college QB/TE Players the Eagles can draft that could play those positions Troy Andersen - Montana State LB/RB/QB in college. 6'3 243 4.42 RAS 9.99 Was a RB, his first year Was a QB, his second year (won first team all Big Sky - FCS at QB) Was a OLB/RB, his third year (won first team all Big Sky - FCS at OLB) Was a ILB, his fourth year (won first team all Big Sky - FCS at ILB) Had 100 yard rushing games in 3 different seasons. Even if Hurts would have had Davonte Adams playing opposite Smith, it wouldn’t make a difference. If Hurts doesn’t become a better QB, it won’t matter who you put out there. Or do you think an elite QB would have had the same results with this group?!

There were many crucial drops last season on well thrown balls so it would have mattered for sure if Adams replaced Reagor.
March 22, 20223 yr About Pascal: While most look at him as an average receiver he can run the ball at times and he can block, so in a way he will fit in pretty well if we intend to play like last season. I rather would've gotten someone with more impact on the actual pass game like Kirk but the way FA played out we went for the consolation price here. Let's hope we still find a good upgrade for safety now.

The big transition Watkins needs to make in year 3 is for Hurts to get him the ball. https://www.si.com/nfl/eagles/news/quez-watkins-has-etched-a-role-in-eagles-future Quote After his thorough work developing and getting noticeable production from the wide receiver position throughout his coaching career, Sirianni was an attractive option for a head coach. Watkins has become the next name added to Sirianni’s list. The Eagles head coach already labeled him his No.2 wide receiver during the team's end-of-season press conference. "I look at Quez Watkins, as he's our No. 2 wide receiver," said the coach, three days after losing to Tampa Bay in the opening round of the playoffs. "He has big-time speed, and he has a knack to make plays. Of course, you always want to get – the style of offense that we played this year didn't allow for Quez to get as many touches as he probably deserves, but we did everything we could do to win each individual game. "So, Quez has big-play ability in him. I think out of the No. 2 wide-outs I've been around in the NFL, he can be one of the best No. 2’s that I've been around in the NFL because of his skill set and because of his ability to make plays. It's pretty short-sighted to look at film of Watkins last year (whether he was targeted or not) and flat out claim he's not a #2. Watkins is a guy that has talent and has also put in the work to get better and those two things are coming together with his play on the field.
