You'll have to share your thoughts when it comes in. I've always been opposed to all electric as someone whos historically done a lot of annual driving and long-range trips, but I did have a Hybrid for 4 years that I enjoyed and bought a plug-in hybrid back in November. After 16ish months now in MN and realizing any travel that's more than 100mi away will pretty much always be by plane or rental car, I'm more and more leaning towards all electric being a possibility. The MachE is one of the things that I am curious about and was considering this past Fall when I was "shopping" but availability is so scarce and I wasn't going to buy/order something without being able to test drive first.

Why do you rent a car for long trips when you have a plug in hybrid?

My first ever car?

At least, that's the first that I remember owning.

Save money. Duh.

I am looking into the Ford Maverick Hybrid. May pull the trigger in a few weeks after I drive one. I want a pick up, but absolutely do not need one at all. So it's hard to justify spending spending a ton of money on one. These seem priced pretty good for the casual truck user.

Haven't driven it looked over one, but always thought an El Camino would be more useful

Yeah, it's still a car though. I had trucks, at least a beater for yard work and home depot runs, my whole life until the last couple years.

Ford, GM to halt production at two Michigan plants due to parts shortage

Ford Motor Co and General Motors will each halt production next week at a Michigan plant due to parts shortages, the two companies said separately on Thursday.

No. 2 U.S. automaker Ford said it would suspend production at its Flat Rock Assembly Plant next week, where it builds the Mustang, due to the global semiconductor shortage.

I'd be less annoyed if we didn't already sell our second car.

If they cancel our order, I'll be pissed.

And no.  Schmoopie won't allow that.  Me?  I don't care, I'm all about practical but she's the one with style, so we meet in the middle :D

Spoiler

When we bought the Brigantine property, I actually suggested getting a used Prius to save $$$ on gas since we had to go back and forth to it every weekend.  She found a MINI that got similar gas mileage.

We are going solar so I suggested a Tesla.  She found the Mach-E and I was sold.

I decided to stop playing football after 9th grade so I would have time to work, because I wanted to buy a car. I saved up to buy one a black 98 dodge Neon with 4k cold hard cash once I turned 16.

not really. I would have missed out on a lot of fun without my car. And met my future wife at that first job.

Why do I want to put additional miles/wear and tear/etc on my own vehicle when I can do it on someone else’s?

This too. My precious vehicle was around 20mpg in daily driving and maybe 27ish if on a straight highway shot. But premium gas, tires, breaks, etc are all costly if I’m going to pop 4-5 hours over to Madison and then travel up and back to Green Bay with a friend. I’ll spend $70 with taxes/fees on a rental that gets close to 40mpg highway and throw this barebones midwestern gas in the tank when I’m done. A 900mi weekend will cost me $150 or so. Hell my car now that maybe gets 30mpg once that electric range is killed within the first 15 miles would cost close to $150 just in premium gas.

I actually unofficially half owned an 89 Chevy 2500 pickup due to a business deal when I was not quite 16. Long story short, bailed a guys business out when his truck died and merged landscaping companies. I don't count that because I didn't drive it (officially)  and it wasn't in my name. Made quite a bit of dough in my teens though.

Nope. The neon was a panty dropper.

That's a problem with women. They try to force things on men. You don't have a car, you're not good enough for them. You watch sports instead of doing something else, they get mad. Sorry, but men shouldn't have to have a car to get a woman, especially if they can't afford it.

Well she said no car, no ****. So it was kind of my choice. She didnt force the car on me. I chose ****.

That's technically forcing something on someone. This is a 'do this or else' situation. If it was your choice, there would be no ultimatum.

Im not sure about that one. Im pretty sure she likes me. So youre thinking she might have only liked my neon? hmmm.... I may have to confront her about this.

That would be a great, interesting conversation. I wonder she will be truthful. If a lady gave me that ultimatum, I wouldn't give in to her. I'll get a car when I'm ready.
