After trading Matt Ryan to the Colts, the organization went out and signed Marcus Mariota to a two-year deal. Although Mariota is the expected starter for the 2022 season, Bob Griffing doesn’t think the team should shy away from drafting a quarterback. Bob Griffing wants the Falcons to select Liberty quarterback Malik Willis with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. "The Falcons needs to go get Atlanta native Malik Willis. Period,” Griffing tweeted. Malik Willis’ Pro Day is making the rounds on Twitter today. He looked the part, delivering on a few deep balls with pinpoint accuracy. The Falcons could use a quarterback of his caliber. If the Falcons do take Malik Willis he’d be in a good opportunity due to the fact he wouldn’t have to start right away. Marcus Mariota has been awaiting another opportunity to start in the NFL for a while now. He had a short leash in Tennessee and then backed up Derek Carr in Vegas. Now healthy, Mariota could revive his NFL career in Atlanta. Willis is expected to be a franchise quarterback in the coming years. But sitting behind Mariota in Atlanta for a year could be a great thing for his development. Should the Falcons draft Malik Willis with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft? 1

nipples
Been saying since the Mariota signing that Willis is their guy. Temporary placeholder with a similar play style makes the transition easier from a scheme perspective.
