EAGLES SHOULD BE CALLING MIAMI ABOUT ANOTHER WR FOLLOWING TYREEK HILL TRADE

March 23, 2022

Eagles

The Miami Dolphins acquired star receiver Tyreek Hill in a blockbuster trade this afternoon, sending five draft picks to Kansas City in exchange.

Hill is also receiving a new deal from Miami, making him the NFL’s newest highest-paid receiver — just one week after Davante Adams set the mark.

Miami also signed WR Cedrick Wilson to a 3-year, $22.8M deal in free agency, ensuring that new head coach Mike McDaniel has everything he needs to make Tua Tagovailoa successful.

Following these new additions to the offense, the Dolphins will undoubtedly look to recoup some of the draft capital they surrendered in the Hill trade. If I’m the Eagles, I’m calling GM Chris Grier about WR DeVante Parker.

Parker is likely the odd man out in a wide receiver rotation that now boasts Jaylen Waddle, Tyreek Hill, and the aforementioned Wilson. The seven-year veteran has been no stranger to trade rumors in the past, and the Eagles have reportedly spoken to Miami about acquiring Parker once before.

Philadelphia’s need for a big-bodied target alongside DeVonta Smith has been well documented to this point, and at 6’3″, 219 pounds — Parker fits the bill. His production has steadily declined since his 1200-yard season in 2019, but Parker is still a vertical threat on the outside.

Parker is under contract for two more seasons and carries a cap hit of just $8.7M next season, a bargain compared to some of the deals we’ve seen handed out this offseason. Combined with the addition of WR Zach Pascal, bringing in Parker would give Jalen Hurts the ample firepower necessary for progression in 2022.

In seven seasons with the Dolphins, DeVante Parker has racked up 338 receptions for 4,727 yards and 24 TDs. It wouldn’t be the "DeVonta-DeVante” pairing that Eagles fans had dreamed of, but Parker would be an immediate upgrade at the position for Philly.

Sign me up for a 5th-rounder. After all, Howie Roseman has been known to fleece Miami in the past.

I like Parker

Old and hardly ever healthy.
