Free agency has little to do with the draft. Especially a nothing signing like this.

Let's see what the numbers come in at.  He hasn't lived up to expectations, but there is a lot to be said for continuity and having players familiar with the system and franchise.  If the team drafts an edge rusher, things could open up for Barnett.

Right, ideally you want your roster with penciled in starters headed into the draft. With Graham recovering,  T Jackson still learning there wasn't a better DE on the market with hopefully a team favorable contract. He's gotta learn to play more disciplined, let's hope.

Yeah, you have no way of knowing how the board will fall. And beyond that, it’s hard to bank on rookies, anyway.

I wonder how much Ojabo's injury has factored into this.  

The two things I think this signals

1. They are more likely to address secondary and DT via early picks then a DE (unless they really love Ojabo and see him redshirting Yr 1)

2. Still think this is low probability but perhaps they like one of the QBs more than has been let on

3. This must have been a pretty cheap deal

It does depend on the money. But given the boneheaded penalties I don’t see how this is deserved if it isn’t cheap.
