The Push back to that though is... you can have as many DEs and DLs as you want. If you don't have a really good one then it's a bit of a problem.

I think the new contract is really good. The second year with no guarantees makes it a prove it deal with team option. Plus he is still young.

Teams could draft a prospect with the same level of pick it would cost to trade for Barnett and get the same level of production (or more)  for less money and a longer period to control him as an affordable asset.

A 4th or 5th round pick playing as much as Barnett played last season could get 2.5 sacks. Of the Eagles players right now Barnett has the least value and again if a team wanted him they simply could have signed him and not have to worry about paying the Eagles any compensation.

He was on the free agent market for weeks and no one wanted him, why would anyone trade anything for him when they could have signed him in the first few weeks of free agency?
