Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon gets an up-close look at Penn State’s pro day

The Eagles are adjusting and retooling their defensive personnel to properly fit Jonathan Gannon’s scheme.

The Penn State Nittany Lions are holding their pro day on Thursday and the Eagles defensive coordinator has a birds eye view of several top flight defenders.

The player for Gannon to watch was Penn State star safety Jaquan Brisker.

A freakish athlete that can do it all from the safety position, Brisker can cover out of the slot, play the run from the box, or hover as a deep safety.

Other players to watch were Arnold Ebikiete, a talented pass rusher.

I think the writer missed a few other players who are likely to be of interest to the Eagles. Linebackers Brandon Smith (2nd, 3rd, or 4th round), Jake Luketa (5th round or later) and Ellis Brooks (6th round or later). Corner  - Tariq Castro-Fields (4th or 5th round).  Punter, Jordan Stout (7th round of free agent).

Penn State's defense was loaded.

• Brooks is exactly the type of linebacker we need. 
• Luketa would compete with Patrick Johnson and Shawn Bradley for a roster spot, but would surely beat out Christian Elliss for a practice squad role. 
• Brooks  - more than likely a competitor with Ellis for the LB practice squad role.
• Castro-Fields was at one time seen as a day 1 prospect at corner. Late season breakdowns cost him a lot of money. I see him as a faster McPhereson. 
• Stout - if Camarda and Araiza aren't available bring him in to compete with Siposs. 

I'm not a huge fan of Gannon but as the team is sticking with him they need to add talent to the defense. And they need to add players who can potentially help him with his scheme.
