When you look at that trade initially, it looked like it was inadequate.  But when really looking at it, trying to forecast where those picks end up, and how it's going to benefit the eagles for a couple more years, it was a great trade.  Not to mention the trade for AJ Brown.

They positioned themselves for next year if they want to move on from Hurts with an additional first, and picked up a 2nd rounder in 2024.  If the saints do falter badly, and Hurts develops into a top 10 guy, Roseman will be in a position for getting a windfall in draft picks or the ability to get into the top 10 or maybe top 5 pick.

I think most of us got excited at the thought of 3 first round pick, but we knew it was unlikely that Howie would use them all.  I think he did a great job.

Exactly. I am and I don't think the Eagles are entirely sold on Hurts (this is probably the case for any player tbh), but this year was not the year to gamble on another prospect.  As you mentioned, this trade has lined them up with the firepower if need be for next season.

I don’t think that trade haul ever looked inadequate. The only disappointment was because we had all been following the Dolphins and Colts progress throughout the season and were primed for three picks in the first round. But turning assets into better assets in the future looked good right from the start.

Really,, the only way it turns out poorly is if the Saints end up with the 26th or worse pick. A top ten pick would be a home run.

We shall see about that.  I doubt very much that a team headed up by Dennis Allen will be lights out good.  He's no Sean Payton, but there is talent on that roster.

It did for me as well.  Sure it would have been nice to add 3 players in round 1 this year, but taking into consideration what our cap situation was like, I thought it may have been hard to make them all fit.  And then of course, as others have noted, it makes it a bit of a challenge in 5 years (assuming exercising 5th year option on them) to be able to get them all extended at the same time.  Lastly, you have a young QB that just completed his first full year as a starter and showed promise but also showed he needed a lot of improvement in some important areas - it makes sense to want to get a further look at him before making the decision on whether or not to roll with him or look elsewhere.  We are now set up nicely should it be the latter.

A lot of people counting their chickens on the Saints pick. Many thought the Saints would be much worse than they turned out.
