Sooner or later we're going to have to rebrand.

"United Federation of States"

"North American Federation"

"Country Formally Known as the United States of America"

Flurry of New Laws Move Blue and Red States Further Apart – DNyuz

"We’re potentially entering a new era of state-centered policymaking,” said Karthick Ramakrishnan, a professor of public policy and political science at the University of California, Riverside. "We may be heading into a future where you could have conservative states and progressive states deciding they are better off pushing their own visions of what government should be.”

It's almost a reversion.

Up late on the sauce?

Karthick Ramakrishnan, a professor of public policy and political science at the University of California, has opinions you value?

It's as if the United States were designed this way in the first place.

Opinions are opinions.

That's said I'm more curious than average and my inputs are wider ranging.

You may disagree with my conclusions all you like.

Again opinions are opinions.

i bet they are, marcia gay hardon!

Republicans have been calling for States to become their own countries for decades. Texas and Florida want to be their own countries. They also call for secession and civil war.

2022 - United States of America.

Oh, and the 10th Amendment is a pretty powerless one. They have a long history of defeat in the Supreme Court. Including, War Powers, Interstate Commerce, land use regulation of state police power, and  taxation.

Here and some 10th Amendment powers reserved to the States. Reserved powers include running elections, creating marriage laws, and regulating schools

Other states have rattled the sabre including California. The call for succession and civil war aren't limited to one political party or the other. Read more.

Left powerless and defined in history. An interesting conundrum if one is a believer in the "living, breathing" doctrine.

Yet the federal government infringes every opportunity it can.

China owns $2B of US farmland.

This is a good idea?

You hating on capitalism now? They own 1/6th of all pork production too.

You see, they waved money, and the owners sold out.

Should we go Venezuela on them and nationalize the farms? Put them under control of the government you love so much?

Not at all. I don't have a problem banning ownership of domestic land to foreigners or foreign nations. The fact that we allow it is stupidity in it's self.

You don't have a problem with capitalism though.

Just not for foreigners.  This is not a surprising take from you.

Foreigners should have capitalism too. All they want. At home.

Not allowing a foreign country to own massive amounts of our land seems like basic common sense. No need to go full Alzheimer's with a word salad about capitalism.

France doesn't rebrand, we will just have to refer to this as the third republic, or the second if you dont count the articles of confederation...or fourth if the civil war counts as a change

Anyone, corporation, or country can own land, subject to the laws of this country

Not one of our better ideas.

A good law to change.

China also owns 100 percent of Trump tie production. FYI.

I dont think that's neccesary.  But we need to be on a sound monetary system so countries can't just print money and buy land.  Beyond that, anyone who goes by our laws should be able to purchase land.

We'll disagree on that.

What law would you make?  If you say they can't, they'll just create a shell company and buy it, or like the King of Saudi Arabia's cousin will buy it, or his cousin's friend...wouldnt you rather just at least know who owns the land?

They do that now as it is.

Fairly certain it could be made to happen. Just a matter of priorities. China owning $2B of US farmland is a bad Fing idea.

You're not going to change my mind about that and I'm not looking to change yours.

We'll disagree.
