Tracking Eagles top-30 prospect visits in 2022

 

With the NFL Draft set to begin in late April, the Eagles will be allowed to host up to 30 prospects at the NovaCare Complex for a pre-draft visit.

While it doesn’t necessarily mean the Eagles will draft these players, it at least gives us a sense of some interest they’re showing in prospects.

As we hear of them, we’ll drop them here:

Matt Corral, QB, Ole Miss

The Eagles have said publicly that they're committed to Jalen Hurts but they were interested in some of the veterans this offseason and are showing some interest in the draft class. Corral said on The Rich Eisen Show that the Eagles were one of his visits.

Corral (6-1, 212) is a potential first-round pick considered by many to be behind Malik Willis and Kenny Pickett in this class. But Corral put up big numbers at Ole Miss and was extremely accurate, completing 67.3% of his college passes. That attribute alone should make him intriguing at the next level. While he's not the biggest guy in the world, he also has plenty of athleticism and his mobility was a big part of his game in college.

Kenyon Green, OL, Texas A&M

A likely first-round pick, Green is visiting several teams, the Eagles among them, according to PFF's Ari Meirov.

Green would be an unpopular pick for the Eagles but it might not be a value stretch. The three-year starter for the Aggies has some tackle experience but is a starting guard at the NFL level.

Andrew Booth Jr., CB, Clemson

The Eagles had one of the top cornerbacks in this year’s class at their facility, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Booth (6-0, 194) pulled out of the combine drills and the Clemson pro day with a quad injury and needed core muscle surgery. So this could be a medical check from the Eagles.

Despite all that, Booth is still a likely first-round pick and is considered one of the best corners in this class. And he’s still worth a first-round selection.

Tyler Smith, OT, Tulsa

The first offensive lineman added to the list. The Eagles are on Smith's scheduled visits, according to Tony Pauline of ProFootballNetwork.

Smith is likely to be a late Day 1 or Day 2 pick later this month. Smith (6-5, 324) ran a 5.02 a the combine at 324 pounds. He played tackle in college but many see him as a future guard in the NFL.

Kayvon Thibodeaux, Edge, Oregon

The Eagles are bringing in Thibodeaux for a visit, according to Geoff Mosher of Inside the Birds. It wasn't long ago when Thibodeaux was considered to be the top pick in this class and well out of the Eagles' range, but there are several reports that he might be slipping.

Even NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah thinks it's no longer a lock that Thibodeaux is a top-five pick.

Perrion Winfrey, DT, Oklahoma

The Eagles reportedly had Winfrey at the NovaCare Complex on April 4, according to Josh Norris of Underdog Fantasy.

Winfrey (6-4, 290) could be in the Eagles’ range on Day 2. A tad undersized, Winfrey has real explosive ability to get after the passer, which we saw in some incredible flashes at the Senior Bowl earlier this offseason. The Eagles have a rich history of drafting players from the Senior Bowl and Winfrey was one of the stars of the week.

The former JUCO player transferred to Oklahoma before the 2020 season and eventually became a starter, playing multiple positions along the line. Although, he’d likely project as a 3-technique for the Eagles.

Marcus Jones, CB/Returner, Houston

Jones, the dynamic return man from Houston, will visit the Eagles, according to Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork. The Vikings, Patriots, Titans and Raiders will also bring Jones in for a visit, according to the tweet.

While he's just 5-8, 174 pounds, Jones projects as a slot corner at the next level. In 2021, Jones had 47 tackles, 5 interceptions and 13 pass breakups.

But what's really intriguing about him is his ability as a return man. In his college career, Jones returned 73 kicks for 2,075 yards (28.4) with 6 touchdowns. And he returned 63 punts for 681 yards (14.0) and another 3 scores. In 2021, he took two kickoffs and two punts to the house.

And in addition to all that, the Cougars even used him on offense some in 2021. He had 10 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown this past season.

Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinatti

The Eagles are one of several teams who will reportedly bring in one of the top cornerbacks in this class, according to Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork. Wilson also listed the Jets, Giants and Seahawks.

Gardner (6-3, 190) is a long and lean corner who might end up being the first defensive back off the board. There’s a chance he won’t even last into the Eagles’ range at No. 15, but they’re doing their homework on Sauce anyway.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein wrote this about Gardner: "Gardner has the traits and demeanor to become a highly effective CB1 within his first couple of seasons.”

Jordan Davis, DT, Georgia

While at the Maxwell Football Awards, the enormous Georgia DT told Joe Santoliquito at Bleeding Green Nation that he had a visit scheduled with the Eagles.

Davis (6-6, 341) was already considered to be a top defensive player in this draft even before he wowed at the combine. He ran a 4.78 and put up impressive jumps for a guy his size. While he was considered a run-stuffer in college (something that would limit where a team would want to take a DT) his athleticism will intrigue plenty of teams.

Devonte Wyatt, DT, Georgia

There are so many top prospects from Georgia that sometimes Wyatt gets lost in the shuffle, but he shouldn’t. In fact, he’s become a very popular name for hte Eagles in mock drafts and Michael Rothstein of ESPN listed the Eagles among Wyatt’s scheduled visits.

Davis was the talk of the combine but Wyatt had a similarly impressive performance. He ran a 4.77 in the 40 and would project as a 3-technique in the Eagles’ defense. With Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave under contract through just 2022, adding an elite DT makes sense for the Eagles.

From that... They certainly seem to be looking at CB and DT so I'd imagine that to be 2 early ish picks.

Yup, Interesting seeing as Howie hasnt taken a corner in the first since 2002, Lito Shepard.

Also took Michael Lewis and Sheldon brown in the 2nd.

I can't imagine they'll take 3 DBs in the 1st and 2nd but wouldnt totally shock me either.

Eagles don't have anything at safety and at corner slay is over 30 with a bunch of young slot corners on the roster

They absolutely need to make CB a priority this year.  With two 1st rd picks, this is a great time to do so (they can still address DL with the other one).  Hoping Sauce and/or one of the top DL prospects falls to within striking range of 15 such that tossing in one of our 3rds gets it done (and then we address the other position with 18).
