Posted April 11, 20223 yr Report: Jalen Reagor drawing trade interest By Tim Kelly, Audacy Sports If the Philadelphia Eagles are prepared to move on from former first-round pick Jalen Reagor this offseason, it appears they could get some compensation for him, rather than just releasing the embattled wide receiver. According to Geoff Mosher of Inside The Birds, there is interest in Reagor on the trade market: "Other teams will be interested in acquiring Reagor. Sources have told Inside The Birds that teams have already called to check on the third-year receiver’s availability." Beyond the fact that you would rather get some compensation for a former first-round pick than nothing, Mosher points out that it would make more sense financially to trade Reagor than releasing him. According to Over The Cap, the Eagles would be left with $7.841 million in dead cap money if they released him before June 1, and $6.038 million in dead cap money if they released him after June 1. A trade of Reagor before June 1 (in time to receive compensation in the 2022 NFL Draft), would leave the Eagles with $3.605 million in dead cap money. A post June 1 trade would leave the Eagles with just $1.802 million in dead cap money in 2022. It is true, though, that Reagor is only 23 years old. And in Mosher's report, there are some who wonder if general manager Howie Roseman would be content to give up on Reagor already, especially given that the return of draft compensation probably wouldn't be significant. Roseman was around for Nelson Agholor becoming a key part of the team's 2017 Super Bowl run after a disastrous second season. And remember, Chip Kelly -- not Roseman -- drafted Agholor. Roseman has even more motivation personally to try to make things work with Reagor. The 21st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Reagor has 64 catches for 695 yards and three touchdowns in his first two NFL seasons. A pick after he was taken, the Minnesota Vikings selected Justin Jefferson, who is already a two-time Pro Bowler thanks to his 196 catches for 3,016 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. https://www.audacy.com/sports/nfl/report-jalen-reagor-drawing-trade-interest
April 11, 20223 yr I have a hard time believing this. Reagor has been horrible at everything he's attempted. Maybe he could be a hybrid RB for some team, because he's not an NFL WR, but he can run fast. Perhaps there's a scheme where he could be a minor option.
April 11, 20223 yr Author I have a hard time thinking we’d get anything of significance in return for him, and further that Howie wouldn’t accept peanuts in return, so I think it is a pretty safe assumption Reagor will be on the team this year.
April 12, 20223 yr I’d give him one more chance to see if he can be a Deebo type guy or maybe a Cooper Kupp in the slot. Then he’s outta here.

April 12, 20223 yr Reagor would have been traded already if anyone had interest. There are a few key differences between Reagor and Agholor (kind of sad to think of Agholor as a success story). Agholor maintained a good attitude during his tribulations. By most accounts, Reagor has not. Agholor wasn't a true burner, but he did look like a fast, smooth separator with two major flaws...bad hands and an anxiety issue resulting in mental errors. Reagor, despite the college hype of being a true burner, looks slower than Agholor, has demonstrated minimal ability to run WR-like routes and separate, AND has a knack for losing yards when they find ways to get him the ball in space underneath while not asking him to run complex routes. He's also a disaster on returns. When you combine a lower athletic upside than anyone expected and terrible ability to help downfield, underneath or on ST with a bad attitude..and you've got someone the GM and staff probably want off the roster.

I agree with all of that completely ... but yet believe he will still be on the roster (Howie hoping Reagor does finally turn things around despite very little hope he can to try to save face from having made yet another disastrous 1st round pick ... especially knowing who was drafted immediately after him, someone many fans had been clamoring for and immediately criticized the pick even before they played a single snap).
April 12, 20223 yr Reagor has been a participant in years with two of the worst QB performances in team history. That's why I feel bad for him. All 22 last year showed him wide open repeatedly while our one read QB ran in circles in the backfield for no apparent reason. A fresh start would be good for him, but don't be surprised if he goes somewhere else and succeeds just because he gets average QB play.
April 12, 20223 yr He needs a fresh start and the Eagles need another 2023 draft pick. Go Go Gadget Howie.

April 13, 20223 yr Maybe the VIkes will trade us JJ since Howie whiffed that pick. We could say it was a joke and we didn't mean it.🤣

April 15, 20223 yr At this point I'd get wat I can and say "good riddance". A fourth would satisfy me, I'd be happy with a 3rd, and ecstatic with a 2nd. My feeling about the odds of it happening - Before the draft = 0% After the draft = 50/50 2023 4th - 65% (32.5% overall) 2023 3rd - 30% (15% overall) 2023 2nd - 5% (2.5% overall) - if there's an idiot in a GM chair Howie will find him.

This is so true......does anybody really think Justin jefferson would have put up big numbers with Wentz last year and Hurts this year? I doubt very much that the eagles are getting calls about his "availability"......and doubt the eagles are ready to give up on him just yet. But even if he improves a lot this year, they still need another WR.
