Working from home post-pandemic in a tech heavy city surely plays no factor.

our company is renting out the bottom two floors of our building because we have no use for the space now with the ability to WFH. each GBU has an anchor day, the other four days you're home.

Yep it's happening everywhere, sucks for smaller businesses nearby like cafes and shops that were depending on that foot traffic but it'll be a long time before we get back to those levels, if ever.

Just a mostly peaceful shopping spree

Haha, windmill literally can't even form a coherent comeback besides repeating "derr, you really are afraid of cities unlike me."

We're all very impressed with your bravery, Van.

I mean, I get it.  You literally post every day about how frightened everyone should be of big cities and I have the giant brass balls to live in one and walk out of my house.  It's pretty impressive.

You do know that Walmart is closing 19 stores in 11 states?

Oh wait I forgot - it is 2023, facts don't matter when it comes to faux outrage.

Get wrecked, loser.

Hey buddy! Thought we lost you for moment. I figured that you were too busy watching all those drag queen and tranny videos trying to find something to be upset about.

So Walmart is NOT closing 19 stores in 11 states?

Nope, just saw that walmart's are leaving in droves from Chicago specifically because of rampant theft enabled by sh**lib policies and thought I'd rub your nose in it because you were retarded enough to believe it was just a normal closure.

I guess the other 15 unprofitable stores dont matter.

I don't know about the other 15 unprofitable stores. They're likely in democrat-run hellholes where theft is rampant due to idiotic soft-on-crime policies morons like you support. All I know is that you specifically implied this was just a routine closing and said I was "whining about faux outrage" when I included it in the thread. It only took several days for you to be proven completely wrong. So again, get wrecked, loser.

Of course, you don't know about the other 15 unprofitable stores. Educating yourself is not your strong suit.

You were dead wrong about the Chicago store closing and now you're calling me uneducated because I don't know the specific reason for 15 other unrelated walmarts closing in various parts of the country?

Yes, folks, they really are this stupid.

Interesting take. Where did I say that 4 stores in Chicago are not closing? I simply stated that there are 19 stores closing and that this is faux outrage as per usual. The only relevance is that there are four in a specific area. Of course, you are not taking into account the other 4 stores in Illinois that are closing along with ones in Arkansas, Florida, Hawaii, Georgia, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Indiana, Minnesota, Texas, and DC. You are the one hard up on Chicago because it fits your narrative and refuses to educate yourself on the other 15 stores that are part of the batch.

I get it. You are a repost monkey that can only regurgitate information on the internet based on a headline instead of actually looking deeper into things. Taking the time to read about a subject to fully understand it before spewing it out into the world must be for losers like me. Then again I don't spend my days staring at tranny and drag queen videos to post in a thread on a random football website, so what do I know?

You didn't say they weren't closing. You implied that because 15 other stores are closing nationwide, that this didn't belong in the thread. The stores are closing in Chicago specifically because of theft directly enabled by retarded sh**lib policies, hence the inclusion. I don't really care why the other stores are closing. It doesn't matter to me. You can read about them if you'd like and report back.

Yep exactly, just got back from a 4-day Chicago trip, kids had a blast. But I guess some people should avoid big cities if they hate world-class museums, amazing restaurants, famous landmarks and architecture, nice hotels where you can actually get a good night's sleep, etc.

Literally everything on that list other than museums can be found outside of urban areas. I went to get lunch while at Jefferson last week because my wife was hospitalized. I walked two blocks away to pick up lunch, and watched some girl punch a homeless lady in the middle of Walnut St and keep walking. And the WaWa I went into on another day had armed security guards. And as I said, we just missed the mob on Tuesday that week.

Not afraid, I just choose to vacation in clean, beautiful parts of our country and other countries that aren’t full of crime and garbage.

I said it was faux outrage because there were 15 (now 16) other unprofitable stores closing. You decided not to look into it further than the sensational headline of 4 Walmarts closing in Chicago. You got all excited to post it to scream your typical partisan garbage.

You don't care about the other stores because it does not fit your narrative. Look many people like you cant form an original opinion. I get that you require places like Twitter, 4chan, Stormfront, or wherever else you need to go to get someone to tell you the latest outrage. I apologize that I was trying to show you that there is more to the story and that I expected that maybe you would read a bit more about it. It was my fault for thinking that you had that ability. I will be more aware of that the next time.  🍻

You do you.  I'll vacation in cities and in the country.  Pretending like small towns have the same entertainment/attractions/architecture/art/etc as the biggest and most famed cities in America is a lie you're telling yourself to justify your fear.

Sure, but as I said earlier, it can be very hit or miss. It's ultimately an issue of supply and demand. There's less demand (not zero demand) for nicer hotels, restaurants, etc, in more sparsely populated areas, so the supply will naturally match that. Yes, some decent options are out there, but they are tougher to find and certainly not as ubiquitous as they would be in larger cities.

Not fear. I just find places like Nashville, Hilton Head, the Outer Banks, etc. much more enjoyable than going to downtown Chicago or LA. I prefer not to deal with homeless, trash everywhere, etc. As I said earlier, for a Birds game, seeing a show, etc. for a day or night, no problem. But when I’m doing one of my one week or two week vacations throughout the year…nah.

Nashville's a huge city.  It's a top-25 city in the country.  There's plenty of crime/homelessness/trash there.

And no one goes to downtown LA.  It's a wasteland.  I certainly didn't go there last time I visited.  And I didn't go to Compton either because...wait for it....I'm afraid of getting murdered.  Just like you and Kz are afraid of cities.  It's not a huge deal.  People are afraid of things.  I'm afraid of alligators.  You guys are afraid of cities.

I would consider Nashville a fairly big city. Doubt anyone would struggle to find some pretty cool things to do there for a vacation.

Well yeah, nobody wants to deal with that, especially with kids in tow. Obviously not all cities are gonna be as clean or orderly as others, and they all have their seedy or sketchier areas. Grand Rapids, for example, is an awesome city especially if you like breweries, but if you take a wrong turn, you can hit some pretty impoverished areas fairly quickly. That's the also case with some of the beach cities on the west coast of Michigan that I mentioned earlier. St Joseph's is one of the nicer ones, but you have to drive past Benton Harbor to get there, which looks like a warzone in some parts. Conversely, I expected Manhattan to be way worse than it was before our first trip there. I saw 10x more homeless people walking two blocks in Toronto than I did walking from Fashion District to Rockafeller Plaza at 5am.
