Excited for Eagles to take Jordan Davis and then he decides he doesn’t want to train

Yeah on ESPN The Draft: Featured, they run through multiple players back story and their motivation… it’s not a bad show. Jordan Davis’s segment was basically his mom made him get his a** out of the house and go do something by dropping him off at football practice, nothing about personal motivation whatsoever. I expect him to slide and I hope we don’t take him.

What are the rules a-holes??!

It will likely be a little different this year with 2 firsts... but normally, I think you pick 5 names for Round 1 and if on of your guys ends up the pick, you move on to Day 2.  On Day 2, you pick 10 names, and if one of those guys is picked on Day 2, you move on to Day 3.  You get a bonus point for 2 picks correct, I think.   And then Day 3, I think you pick 20 names and see how many you can hit on.

They will draft whoever is ready to play in year 4 of their contract and then we can cheer that Howie drafted starter 4 yrs ago!

Yep the 2018 draft class is touted yet the contributions of the players in their first 3 years was fairly minimal

I think it was 8 players to pick. I would suggest we do ten this year, and if you get BOTH of them, you get a bonus of some kind.

Jordan Davis will be there at 15 and Howie will outsmart everybody in the room by drafting Devante Wyatt instead.

Somehow, this mistake will make me very happy. LOL. :D

This is unusually hard every year because of who is making the picks.

Ok. Some I am going to cut up little pieces of paper with the names of my drafts picks written on them. Then I am going to put a little glue on the edge of these pieces of paper. Then get a box fan, turn it on high, and drop these names in front of the fan, so they hit and stick to a wall. Then, blind folded, I will choose these pieces of paper, take off the blind fold and hope for the best.

That's how Howie does it, so.... all of you contestants are in trouble...

To be fair they only had 5 picks that year (and only 1 pick on the first 2 days … Goedert … and he was stuck behind Ertz).  Maddox and Sweat aren’t bad for 4th rd picks and Mailata was obviously a project.  Maddox was played out of position in 2 of his first 4 years.

All true but just saying in the first contract of the players the contributions didn't add up to that much.  Beyond that while I like all those guys I think any of them actually being a Pro Bowl caliber player remains to be seen.

Howie must have been surprised to find that out.  Was he unaware that Ertz was under contract?

It is always nice to have a succession plan in place, but generally, that succession plan should be at a premium position, and shouldn't take an entire rookie contract to play out.  Goedert was behind Ertz in 2018, 2019, 2020, and half of 2021.  Granted, they liked running 12 personnel, so he got playing time, but a second round pick is a lot of resources to put into a #2 TE.   Then again, a 2nd round pick is also a hefty price for a backup QB and gadget player.

The only thing clear is that you, sir, are a bundle of twigs.

The mental gymnastics you are performing to make the Goedert Pick look bad is world class.  I look forward to hearing your critique of other universally loved things such as puppies, babies, and Brian Dawkins.

If they would have traded Ertz sooner have to figure Goedert's production would have been quite a bit more.  I think Maddox has played quite well when they have him at nickel like they did in years 1 and 4... playing outside not so much.  But also have to think that finding pro bowl caliber players becomes that much more difficult when picking late (4 of the 5 picks were round 4 or later).  But certainly not defending Howie's drafting - we all know he is terrible at it most of the time.  I just hope he isn't terrible next week.

Definitely agree. I think my main point was that even in Howie's 'hits' they are guys who are good-ish but none have actually proven to be Pro Bowl caliber yet. Maybe someday but also maybe not

No gymnastics necessary.  I made one comment about the fact that the Eagles knew he'd be behind Ertz for years when they made the move to draft him.  It wasn't a surprise, which is what I addressed in my post.
