Four Seasons Total Landscaping becomes a VRChat hangout for furries

The Trump campaign’s bizarre press conference is immortalized forever in VR

Screen_Shot_2020_11_09_at_1.50.34_PM.0.p

Post-election celebrations took many forms this past weekend after President-elect Joe Biden was projected to be the 46th president of the US. Those ranged from mass dance parties in the street to countless online expressions of some much-needed collective schadenfreude at the expense of Donald Trump and his surrogates who refuse to accept the reality of his loss.

But none quite measure up to the group of furries, led by YouTuber and virtual reality enthusiast CooperTom, who re-created Trump’s bizarre and sad press conference outside a landscaping business that happens to share the same name as a luxury hotel chain.

They did so using VRChat, the massively multiplayer online VR simulator that lets you create an avatar of your choosing — including anthropomorphic animals — and socialize with others in virtual worlds you or others design.

The Four Seasons Total Landscaping press conference is perhaps the symbolic epitome of the Trump campaign’s final death throes. The event, at which Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani was informed mid-speech of Trump’s loss but dismissed it as the product of election fraud, was located next to an adult entertainment store called Fantasy Island and nearby a crematorium and prison in the outskirts of the city that helped win Biden the election. And due to a lack of explanation from Trump campaign staffers, we don’t know why they chose it, except that perhaps someone thought they were booking the Four Seasons Hotel located 10 miles away.

Either way, Four Seasons Total Landscaping has emerged as one of the defining memes of the weekend, providing the internet with endless entertainment and making a small business that advertises lawn maintenance and snow plowing the site of what could ultimately become the Trump campaign’s impossibly poetic public sendoff.

Now, it’s immortalized forever in the realm of VR, thanks to CooperTom’s efforts on Sunday, which involved more than five hours of work re-creating the scene of Giuliani and crew’s speaker and podium setup, the garage door emblazoned with Trump logos, and even the now-iconic "presidential hose wheel.” The map is available in VRChat now with the description "a great place for a press conference.”

It’s not clear how the space will be used in the future. The initial group of furries that populated the map’s launch party mostly congratulated CooperTom on his astounding attention to detail and wondered whether any one of them would begin giving a mock speech at the podium before someone began setting off virtual fireworks.

But as of Monday afternoon, it’s already been updated with a subtle design change:

One of Iran's main nuclear scientists was assasinated today a ways outside of Tehran.  They will surely blame the US.  Could get interesting.

He dressed up as one at some large kickoff all hands type gathering prancing around the dance floor and we eventually figured out who was in the costume.  He's a good guy.  One of those weirdo programmer types who marches to the beat of their own drummer.

Its like me with golf.  There was a time I had a single digit handicap, but never had a hole in one (despite playing 80ish rounds a year for several years). Many that were within inches and even one that stopped short right at the lip, but none that dropped.

Then you have people like my buddies sister. She plays once every 2-4 years, cant swing a club to save her life but she got a hole in one once because she topped the ball, ran it up to the green and tracked just right.

No hole in one?  Man you suck :P

I've read somewhere that most golfers never get one.  Most people I know that play regularly have one except this one guy who plays the most of all.  He's a 3-digit a year type of guy (divorced of course).  He's never had one.  I've played for 30 years and have exactly 1.  Was very happy to get that out of the way.

Back when I was living in Denver, I use to play Arrowhead quite a bit.  Expensive course but I would find deals to make it affordable.  Anyway, one weekend I was playing with my one bud and with two other dudes that they paired us with.  That particular day I was hitting my irons especially well.  We get to the 9th teebox, which was a short par 3 and I turn to the group and said "You know, I might be buying drinks after this shot", a joke I NEVER make.  I grab my club (knew which one too since I played that hole well the previous weekend), take a few practice swings, and then whap:

Ball tracked right for the hole and stopped just inches short.  The two dudes lost their crap and started yelling to another group playing a hole adjacent to us "THIS GUY ALMOST CALLED HIS OWN HOLE IN ONE".

Crazy thing was, that wasn't even my best shot of the day, that came on the very next hole.  It was a par 4 with an elevated tee box and your second shot is at an elevated green.  I put it on the fairway, grabbed my (5 wood I think) and took my shot.  When we walked up to the green my ball was just on the lip of the hole.

Homes of McConnell and Pelosi are vandalized

(CNN)The homes of the two highest-ranking members of Congress — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell — have been vandalized, police said, after the Senate stalled Friday on increasing stimulus checks to $2,000 for millions of Americans.

After McConnell's Louisville home was marked with graffiti early Saturday morning, the Kentucky Republican denounced the incident as a "radical tantrum."

"Vandalism and the politics of fear have no place in our society. My wife and I have never been intimidated by this toxic playbook. We just hope our neighbors in Louisville aren't too inconvenienced by this radical tantrum," McConnell said in a statement.

"Were's (sic) my money" was scrawled on McConnell's front door in what looks like white spray paint, according to photos from the scene taken by CNN affiliate WDRB.

Louisville Metro Police Department's 5th Division is investigating the matter and have not yet identified any suspect(s), spokesman Dwight Mitchell said.

Early Friday morning, a home in San Francisco belonging to Pelosi was vandalized, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

"Unidentified suspect(s) had painted graffiti on the garage door and left a pig's head on the sidewalk," the police department said in a statement obtained by CNN.

The SFPD Special Investigations Division is investigating. CNN has reached out to Pelosi for comment.

The two separate incidents come as Senate Democrats and independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont pushed, without success, for a Senate vote on $2,000 stimulus checks Friday as the clock winds down on the 116th Congress.

The effort was blocked by Senate Republicans including McConnell, who have largely argued that increasing stimulus checks would not be the kind of "targeted relief" necessary to respond to the economic distress caused by the pandemic, despite the fact that President Donald Trump has called for that amount and the House of Representatives on Monday passed a measure to increase the direct payments to Americans.

McConnell has been critical of the push to increase the checks, multiple times saying the amount is "simply not the right approach" and repeating an argument that much of it is "socialism for rich people."

Pelosi and Democrats moved quickly to bring legislation on increased payments after Trump complained following last week's bipartisan effort that included $600 stimulus checks for many Americans. The House passed that legislation on Monday.

The second stimulus package that Congress did pass included $600 direct payments, half the amount provided in the first round of checks, which went out in the spring.

Surprised there's no thread
