Bunch of states have been making it so kids need a parents permission to access social media. Also a bunch of states have already made it so you need an ID to access adult websites

I need to think more on this one but my initial reaction is "good".

Should be the parents job to parent their children. Shouldn't have to show ID to let our kids access social media IMO

So I didn't open the articles but going by what was posted, it sounded like you needed permission, not ID, to access social media.

Adult content should absolutely have age verification.

Parents would need to upload ID to verify

Absolutely disagree people need to update ID to access adult content

We'll have to agree to disagree.  I think there is no reason a 10 year old should be able to access prawn

I guess so because adults shouldn't have to show ID to access the internet because some lazy parents can't parent their own kids

Only some people are terrible drivers, but we are required to wear seatbelts.

Only some liquor store owners may be shady, but we are required to show ID to buy alcohol.

Hell, lets make it a more apples to apples comparison....

Rated R movies mean children are prohibited to watch without an adult.  Sure, some kids will sneak in, but exposure to kids is limited because of this.  Same would go for prawn.

How do those comparisons even work when there are parental control features in most if not all electronic devices. Plus there are added software products you can buy that have been available for decades

Lazy parents

Why not?  A one shot affair per site to establish the ID shouldn't be all that hard should it?

Not really a counterpoint given that the examples I gave takes the firewall out of the individual's hands and makes it policy.

I disagree. Adults shouldn't have to do this if people would parent their kids and not be lazy and bad parents

And if everyone was safe drivers we wouldn't need seatbelts.  If everyone followed the law we wouldn't need IDs at liquor stores.  I could go on and on.

Kids shouldn't be exposed to prawn because their parents are lazy.  Or not tech savvy enough to know how to lock things down.

Don't need to be tech savvy to know how to use the parental controls that have been around for decades

It's just lazy and bad parenting

So we should have age restrictions every time you try to stream a R-rated movie?

There’s already age restrictions when you log on to prawn sites. It’s already labeled adult content.

Why not make sure kids can’t hope on Netflix and watch movies with nudity ?

Still not a reason not to mandate safeguards against prawn like you do against every other item not meant for children.

And what's to stop a kid from clicking "I am 18"?  The "age restriction" is literally NOT a safegaurd.

Just out of curiosity, for the people who are against proof of age for adult content on the net:  Outside of making it slightly more inconvenient to fap, what are your other objections?

Exactly so let’s need to upload ID every time we want to watch a rated R movie on Netflix. Being Rated R isn’t enough to protect kids.

Completely pointless and government overreach

It absolutely is. Parents need to freaking parent their own kids. If they don't want them accessing that kind of content then there's plenty of safeguards specifically for minors to prevent them. Parents just need to do their job and stop being lazy and bad parents.

Parental controls on tvs have been around for a very long time. There's been nanny software for PCs that have been around for a very long time. Mobile devices have the same stuff

We're talking about gen x and millennials here. They should know how to work this stuff seeing as how it was used on them growing up. And even if they don't... companies have made it super freaking easy to use them

Goes back to lazy and bad parenting
