January 22Jan 22 Health insurance companies can be pretty scummy, so I get why people may be upset with them (not to the point of murder though). My uncle was diagnosed with aggressive lymphoma. So he put in to schedule for scans and treatment. The health insurance was treating his situation as if he was young and healthy and just needed a checkup, so they put him off until February. Well, he had to be rushed to the ER a couple of days ago and the hospital saw what was going on and fast tracked the scans AND treatment (Chemo and/or radiation), and assigned a social worker to his case so that the insurance company (Kaiser) won't try to slow walk things again.

I know a lot of folks happy with their Kaiser plan. But I worry their medical practice is working too close to the insurance plan, and too focused on cost-cutting. Preventive care is fine until you really get sick. How much are they really equipped to handle the major stuff? I am glad your uncle found the care he needs.

Yeah, my uncle was very happy with Kaiser, until he actually needed it for big health issues. They did something similar (I don't remember the details), a couple of years ago after a heart attack and surgery was needed.
