We are just inside of 5 months from starting the 2022 season.   We know the bulk of the roster.  We know that we have a nice group of picks in a draft relatively strong at positions of need.  For better or worse, we know Howie has a new contract.

Wild card, win round one. Anything more is icing on top of the 2022 cake. I am trying to be positive here, even though they really only beat losing teams last year.

Generally, I think we haven't changed our trajectory much and are again schedule dependent.  8 wins max.  Hopefully, that's enough to get in.

It depends on the QB.  If it is Hurts,  maybe a wild card and a quick exit.  Another QB, maybe win a playoff game.

Too early to tell. We have too many holes on defense. And even if we had an all pro defense, I don't trust Gannon. We also need a veteran WR.

So you think a rookie is coming here and winning a playoff game? How about Kyler Murray? For the record the last two quarterbacks to win playoff games here were McNabb and Foles.

My gut says that there is no other QB coming to improve the situation.  .

It feels like Dallas is actively sabotaging their team, so I would be surprised if 9-10 wins next year by us wins it. A big reason this division hasn’t had back to back winners in awhile is because the previous year’S winner collapses under the first place schedule. Dallas didn’t have LAR and GB on top of their Bucs game last year, so they will be that much worse.

this is why i hope we we use our early draft picks on the best defensive players available instead of gambling on another WR. our defense stinks.

I agree. I have done multiple mock drafts where I only take 3 rounds of defensive players for the Eagles. 5 picks in first 3 rounds this year.

I'd much prefer to answer this after the draft. But with how weak their opponents look and how Dallas might be taking a step back I think they have a chance to compete for the division and at the very least make it back in as a wild card.  As for winning a playoff game or not that will really depend on the matchup but if they win the division and get a home game then I'd lean towards winning a game.

Right now the Eagles have one legit starting CB, barely one at Safety, if Reddick is gonna be the SAM they need another Edge and another DT to replace Cox hopefully next season, another good route running receiver to go along with Smith and a 2nd TE.
If defenses keep 7-8 guys in the box which they should unless their DC is an idiot, the Eagles will be lucky to win 7 games, and they’ll need to face teams 3rd string and off the street QB’s like last season to win 9.
Last season injuries weren’t really an issue, that will have to stay the same in 2022 for them to win 7-8 games, hopefully this strategy of being one of the only teams like the Bengals not working out this week plays out like last season.  The Bengals don’t like paying for catering, so it’s normal for that team not to work out early.

Normally I'd say completely miss the playoffs but with the expanded wildcard we could sneak in and lose again

This will once again give people a false sense of where the team is at

I don't expect much different this year from last year. This team is very average due to the QB fiascos and bad drafts, and we will stay average for a while.

I only answer to polls that ask where I stand

I might feel differently after the draft, but right now I feel like the needle hasn't moved much.  If we knock the draft out of the ballpark, I'd say we would definitely compete for the division and playoffs.  Otherwise we will have to hope we can feed off the bottom dwellers again and that the NFC as a whole is mediocre where we can remain "in the hunt".

I'm hoping they don't draft on offensive player in this draft and go entirely defense.....then, the Saints and us have the worst records in the NFL.....then, we get Stroud and the next best player with the 2nd pick in the draft.  Next year, SUPERBOWLZZZZZ!!!

I think that Dallas beat us solidly last year.

I don't think that we will beat them this year after just one offseason of roster changes.

And, the Bucs showed me that we didn't belong on the field with them.

I think we can get in with a wildcard. I do think Dallas is better than us and I think both Washington and the Giants could split with us.

Having said that, the division as a whole isn't great and the NFC is pretty bad. Could see us being a "good" team and getting waxed in the playoffs.

The Bucs gave the NFL the blueprint for beating the Eagles. Stop the run, make Hurts beat you with his arm. Now whether the team we are facing has the horses to do that is the question.

Not sure why anyone would want this scenario (not insinuating that is where your preference lies).  I've seen a few posts from folks hoping to sneak in.  Personally, if the choice came down to going run heavy to hide the deficiency in Hurts' passing game and sneaking in as the 7th seed again or not adjusting the offense this year and forcing Hurts to either improve that part of his game significantly (and potentially play our way into the postseason) or flop and end up with a top 10 pick, I'd much rather the latter.  Hurts needs to prove he can be a legitimate passing threat by the end of the upcoming season or be replaced.  We will never know if he can become that if we continue to scheme to cover up that weakness.

I agree completely. I know exactly what they'll say too. They'll bring up "anything can happen in the playoffs" because of a few wildcard teams were able to make a run and win a Lombardi

A wildcard team is not going to make a run without a top flight QB.  Until the Eagles get one, it will be possibly get in and then get rudely bounced.

As I posted in the blog, with WR contracts exploding, how can the Eagles justify paying Devonta 20+ million per in a couple of years when he ranks 36th in targets.
