RUMOR: EAGLES ZEROING IN ON WR JAMESON WILLIAMS

April 25, 2022

Eagles

It is officially Draft Week and the Eagles could potentially be taking a receiver in the first round for the third consecutive year.

According to ESPN’s Todd McShay, the Eagles have their eyes on Alabama WR Jameson Williams:

"Multiple execs I spoke with think Alabama wideout Jameson Williams is the Philadelphia Eagles’ preference at No. 15. And if not Philly, then the New Orleans Saints could be his floor at No. 16. If another team wants Williams, it will probably have to move up to at least the Baltimore Ravens’ No. 14 slot. Baltimore — which already has eight picks in Rounds 2 to 4 — is always willing to move back.”

Williams is coming off a torn ACL suffered in the National Championship Game but is reportedly ahead of schedule in his recovery. When healthy, Williams is the most explosive receiver in this class.

NFL.com’s scouting report of Jameson Williams:

"Linear route-runner with electric long speed to impact a game as a home-run hitter or decoy drawing defenders away from other elements of the offense. Williams ruins man coverage but faces some limitations. He has issues getting off press cleanly and might require some scheming to help get off the mark cleanly against certain corners. Catch toughness can be inconsistent when contested or in heavily trafficked areas. He has all the juice to find consistent separation on vertical, over and post/corner routes and could see monstrous production if paired with a high-end talent at quarterback. The ACL tear could play a role in determining his ultimate draft destination, but it’s unlikely to change his game."

After being buried on the depth chart at Ohio State, Williams transferred to Alabama for his junior season and caught 79 passes for 1,572 yards (led SEC) and 15 touchdowns.

Williams could be the ideal running mate alongside DeVonta Smith for years to come. With the No. 15 and 18 overall picks at his disposal, GM Howie Roseman should be well within striking distance for the Alabama star.

I think there's potential there for him to end up being the best WR in this draft. The ACL is a real concern though because I mean that's not just a 1 year injury for some guys.

That said the Eagles are not a win now team so they could be patient with him.

Howie loves him some guys with a torn ACL.

I was looking at his draft profile and they ask a really good question: how does a guy with this kind of talent only catch 15 balls at Ohio State?

smh

Stuck behind Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson (with a long list of top 100 guys breathing down his neck). This seemed like it would be his break out year, but he couldn't beat out Jackson Smith-Njigba (who turned out to be the best WR in college football) so he transferred to a depleted Alabama corps that has had outstanding recent success putting guys in the NFL and had his break out year.

This doesn't worry you guys?

I get a kick out of all these TATErs moaning, groaning and throwing shade at Howie based on a rumor.

You all begged him to draft from elite schools and he also went to the same school with Landon as will Jameson. Smith and him have became friends and know the same language and they can help one another. His speed with Smiths Acrrobatics and elite route running we have a great one two punch. Alabama has been good to us . Jalen, Smith Dickerson and I also thin Driscoll  Alabama has been good to us lately.

I also wouldn’t mind adding John Metchie if he was to be available in round 4 or 5.

Jameson has openly talked about being a dog and his style is exactly that. Crushed people as a gunner on special teams , returns punts and kicks and is excellent at that. He is also a great comparison to a more explosive Steffon Diggs. He may need a extra month to recover once tfs staers but he may be ready by week 1 however I’d be ok if he took until week 4 to heal up.

He is worth the wait

Let's face it if they are zeroing in on him then they have a leaky front office which is undermining their efforts. But it's probably a smokescreen

If only!

I heard Howie really likes Vanilla and Chocolate.
