One potential player in some primetime theatrics: The Philadelphia Eagles, who have two first-round picks and have been among the most notable teams making calls about moving up. "Moving up is a fascinating one because you do wonder if the Eagles move up from 15 -- of course they do have plenty of ammunition, two first-round picks -- who would they be targeting?" NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport said on Tuesday's edition of NFL NOW. "Potentially, would a corner be someone they'd be targeting? Would it be an edge rusher? What if (Oregon edge rusher Kayvon) Thibodeaux slid? Lot of options here for the Philadelphia Eagles. With an extra pick at its disposal thanks to the Carson Wentz trade from a year ago, Philadelphia seems to be in an ideal situation to possibly leap up in the draft order to take a player the club is coveting. The question, as Rapoport said, is who that player might be. This class is loaded with edge-rushing and receiving talent, and the Eagles have room to make quality additions at both spots. Posted by Charean Williams on April 26, 2022, 3:22 PM EDT A record eight teams have two first-round draft choices. The Eagles are one of those teams, holding picks No. 15 and 18. They had three first-round picks before a trade with the Saints.
weko Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Like that big DT from Georgia. I'd package a 3 to get him although there's a chance he's still there at 15
time2rock Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 I’ve been saying for some time now that I believe Howie will move up from 15 to grab a player he covets … either an edge rusher, CB, or WR. Guessing it won’t be using 18 unless it is a QB and doubt he moves up for one this year. Further guessing the move will involve pick 83 (and possibly a 4th or 5th, depending on how far he wants to move).
UK_EaglesFan89 Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 I can see us moving up from #15 and then down from #18. Use some capital to move up but then recoup that by moving down. I mean that's a very Howie thing to do. And I think if they get the trade offers then it's a sensible thing to do. This is a deep draft but it isn't loaded with elite potential. So trade up and get perhaps a top talent and then use the rest of the draft to try and solidify things on your roster. 1

I think this is exactly what Howie will do. If it's true that the consensus is that the value is between pick 20 and the 2nd and 3rd rounds, Howie can't resist "value". We get so caught up with the 1st round hype on players, sometimes we think the 2nd and 3rd round is devoid of talent...which is ridiculous. They need help at plenty of positions and getting a top talent while obtaining more 2nd and 3rd round picks is a solid strategy.....the only problem is that Howie also like to "reach" for players which usually results in a waste of a pick. 1

I too think Howie will try to move down but he may find it difficult to do so. There have been a few "reports” recently claiming there are far more teams looking to trade down not up. If that is indeed the case can only guess it will be more of a buyers market and return may not be what you’d expect and then we’ll all be saying Howie got fleeced. I only hope to move down if there are no players available at 18 that make perfect sense for us and we get good value in return. 1

We hear that every year but there are some desperate GMs out there, some are real boneheads. I think the only reason the media has said that more teams are willing to trade down is because of the weak QB market. Plus teams are extremely tight lipped about draft plans....Teams that want to trade down are "sellers", so they put it out there all the time. Buyers are quiet, not wanting to show their hand at all. 1
Rob331 Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 Making the calls doesn't really tell us anything. Howie is just doing his homework. My guess is that htey've made just as many calls about trading down, but it's less that sexy to report that.
