Posted April 27, 20223 yr I know we are almost 100 sure drafting a corner I. The first two days.l, however Kary Vincent JR, Tay Gowan, Mike McCain and Zec McPherson we kept 7 total corners on the 53 quite a bit and yet three of them almost never played. If all’s we get is Arizona’s pick basically for a 5 I’m mad. Gowan should be able to compete to start if you only asked for a 5 Kary is going to have more of a backup nickel I think and could be a solid special teams player but again he was barley activ Hoe come we added so many bodies and never allowed them to play or develop. I get Maddox and Slay are musts but Steve wasn’t likely going to come back so see what the young pups can do. I think Gowan has the best chance to be a outside corner but he needs to add weight and promote more aggression in his press abd and punch when he jams at the line. Upper body strength is a must in order for him to even play a role. He’s way to skinny and will be consistently beat up Gowan had the fluidity and coverage awareness. He just lacks functional strength and proper technique to make physics work for you.. I am not saying don’t draft a corner but with all the time and effort spent with the young corners I hope one can grow and contribute

I am not saying don’t draft a corner but with all the time and effort spent with the young corners I hope one can grow and contribute In today's NFL, CBs are the 3rd most injured position group.....and teams need 5 CBs.....and usually have 1-2 on the practice squad. So with the high frequency passing games, the high injury rate, you simply can't have too many CBs....And it's the most difficult defensive position to play....young guys need time to develop and can get that on PS or being out into games for spot duty. And you have to remember that they were all new to Gannon's scheme...Slay and Nelson were experienced veterans.
April 27, 20223 yr I would be more than unhappy to go into the season with any one of our current corners including McPhereson or Gowan as CB2. Young or not, none of those currnet corners have ever shown they can be credible NFL starters or even backups.

I’m not worried about Gowan’s press man game. We run zone more than any other team in the league. Vincent I feel could be potentially a really good S. 12 hours ago, Rob331 said: I would be more than unhappy to go into the season with any one of our current corners including McPhereson or Gowan as CB2. This is the year to let the young bucks play.
