I'm a big fan of the trade up & trade down scenario.

I've been going through some draft sims, and trading up from 15 to 11, there's probably one great DL prospect still on the board. If 2 offensive tackles/1 qb or 3 tackles go in the top 10, and Sauce/Stingley/Hamilton all go top 10, then Jordan Davis or one of the edge guys is around at 11. I'd trade 15 and both thirds to Washington to move up if they're willing. If all the DL prospects go and Sauce/Sting/Ham is there at 11, that's a great consolation prize.

Then at 18, you can get a solid player, but I've been playing with trading back down once or twice and moving down to 25-29 range and still picking up a really solid late round guy. I've heard the rumblings that it will be easier to move up than move down, but moving back 10 spots for a third/third or even a third/fourth is not a huge ask, and you're recouping most if not all of what you gave up to move to 11.

I've been really liking the combination of Jordan Davis at 11 and Zion Johnson / Kenyon Green in the 20s (more on guard later.) The Eagles could really use better starting corners/safety/linebackers, and I'm all for it at 11 if there's a guy they love, but building OL/DL has always been a priority for this front office and I support that mentality. I know people want a WR in round 1. The sad reality is that if you draft a bunch of lineman the draft is boring, but you probably end up with a better football team.

Lastly - I've seen fans and a few of the beat reporters say, "why draft an OL early? Stout is such a good coach, you can get starters in the 5-7th rounds." I hate that idea so much. It's true that Stoutland has been able to find underrated guys in later rounds and coach them up into serviceable starters. That doesn't mean they couldn't have the consensus best OL in the league if they were picking all first rounders. If you have Gordon Ramsey making you dinner, do you say, "oh well he's such an amazing chef, we can buy cheap ingredients and he'll make a serviceable meal"? It's probably true, but wouldn't it be fun to buy great ingredients and have the best meal of your life? If Stout really likes one of the early guards, I have to believe they'll be better than Seumalo. Imagine having Johnson & Johnson covering the right side of the Eagles OL. You don't undervalue the position just because your coach is amazing.

Belongs in the football section. Thoughts on the draft is while I like it, I prefer a nice cold bottle and mainly because draft gets hot too fast.

I don't go in the football section.

The above is clearly a rant.

NO WR! in the first. I dont care if its an attractive pick,  we need defense pick in both spots.  Im not quite sold on Hurts merely by the performance he displayed in his last game.  that was a huge test to show what hes got and he choked on it.  I would have accepted a loss on his behalf if he left it on the field but he hesitated and second guessed himself too many times.  Id hate to see wasting a WR pick on someone that wont get proper development from the guy throwing the ball.  Note I did expect more out of the chemistry between Hurts and Smith and was let down there.  Maybe Im too picky.  Was that Rant enough for RAnt and RAve?
