Government in Action

Citizens in Cornwall, England, are fuming after the St. Blaise Town Council ordered that 1,000 daffodils in the Old Roselyon Play Area be cut down because they can be poisonous if eaten and could give children diarrhea, Metro News reported. But a spokesman for the Roselyon Play Park Committee called the move "preposterous" and "totally bonkers." He went on to explain that the land was once an orchard and was home to so many of the flowers that a part of it was called Daffodil Walk. Residents took to social media to protest the directive: "When I was in primary school, every year we were given a daffodil bulb to grow ... Funny, I don't remember trying to eat them or anyone being poisoned." Another said, "Daffodils are also poisonous to dogs, (but) even my mutt has the common sense not to eat them."

This is bed with book banning. Toughen up, folks. Teach your idiot kids not to eat anything they see. Don't want a book in your house? Don't buy it. Don't check it out of the library. Don't buy it in a book store.

I couldn't find that story - looks like Mr. or Mrs. Grundy decided they needed to protect all children from the horror of getting sick from eating flowers.

so brave.

thank society for making everyone a p*ssy. Soon you will have to pay a fine if you fart in front of someone.

Eating Daffodils couldn't make their teeth look any worse.

No, thank **** parents. Society only raises kids when parents fail to do the job.

Megan Fox says son Noah ‘suffers’ from bullying for wearing dresses

Really? How odd. I moved to England when I was 9 - got made fun of for sounding like a Yankee.

Three years later I return to the states, and got made fun of for having a fake British accent (I didn't know I had one)

Kids make fun of everything. Welcome to the real world.

Odd, this seems like exactly the kind of thread you'd make. I think you're just jealous that Toaster beat you to the punch.

I'm with you to an extent. When the books are in "PUBLIC GRADE SCHOOLS" thats is different than banning it entirely. I agree banning books is bad, but I get not making some sensitive topics available to children whom society has deemed to young to vote, to young to be responsible for themselves, too young to drive, buy cigarettes, buy/consume alchohol, get married without parents consent  and so on. I have no problem limiting some of the content children should see or be taught in a public school.

If you as a parent wish to buy these books for your children (since they are your responsibility till they are 18) then have at it.

SPeaking of everyone being ****. WHat ever happened to "sticks and stones"  Now everyone gets offended when they hear something they dont like and cries and whines till they cancel or suspend or worse those whom offended them.
