She's saying Elon Musk buying Twitter will result in hate crimes...you are naive to think the government wouldn't try to take action if they're linking posted content to causing hate crimes. This is a great example of asking yourself how you'd react if the other party did it. Eventually, there will be a Republican POTUS using this board and the left won't like what they might do with it.

She's something of a 3rd rail within her own party, so I wouldn't take her views as anything close to representative of where the party stands as a whole. 12 minutes ago, NOTW said: Eventually, there will be a Republican POTUS using this board and the left won't like what they might do with it. Well you guys often ask which politicians support things or is it just media created, then examples are posted and the goal posts get moved again (oh, those examples aren't valid or cause for concern).
April 29, 20223 yr If it's "just" for posting information to counter misinformation, why is it under the Department of Homeland Security and not marketing or communications?

I'm not totally sure of the context of the Tweet or what she's even responding to, but there's a kernel of truth to what she's saying. I'm more concerned about the grammar; that sentence is a real clunker!

I would expect more information to be forthcoming. You're asking the right questions, though. My sense is that the board has no powers of governance or real authority, because that would require Congressional approval. I think they'll be little more than a glorified PR wing that will just provide information that disproves the counterfactual and misleading claims that are influencing the public conversation. For example, if someone's downplaying the events of January 6, simply display the videos, testimony, and other kinds of documentary evidence that puts things in perspective. A democratic populace has the right and the need for accurate information to make good decisions about their government. We've been an independent nation for almost 250 years and survived quite well without a Ministry of Truth. That's why we have freedom of the press. You'd have to be an absolute moron to look to the to government to see what is true and what is not - I guess you'd be looking to the government in that case.

The Biden Regime has set up a "Disinformation Governance Board" - the Ministry of Truth that is a hallmark of all totalitarian regimes. We’ve all lived through the last 10 years, right?
April 30, 20223 yr Likely a toothless and meaningless body, but the optics of this are awful. Plus the timing makes no sense, the average American no longer cares about covid anymore so you can't use that as a reason. They would've been better off framing it as furthering educational resources as part of PBS or NPR or something, but this? This is just dumb all around.
April 30, 20223 yr I'm not going to read through was is probably predictable stupidity in the first few pages of this thread, but this governmental body and naming that Jankowicz or whatever joker is just incredibly wrong AND politically stupid on so many levels. The US government isn't the arbiter of truth Joe. The White House spokesperson is the executive branch's primary and only necessary outlet to message to the American people what the President's position is. While I am disappointed in my fellow Americans' inability to parse the misinformation assaulting them on a now daily basis, it's not government's role to correct that.
April 30, 20223 yr This is all about the midterms. This is the mechanism to take the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop to the next level. This will give the media and big tech companies the cover they need to declare any story unflattering to the Democrats as ‘’misinformation’’ and suppress it too. It’s one of the reasons the left is apoplectic about Musks potential purchase of Twitter. Not being able to control Twitter would make this scheme far less effective. Bring on the and tinfoil hat pics. They won’t make it any less obvious.

I probably would've agreed with you at any other point in history, but disinformation almost led to the collapse of Constitutional government during the last election. Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. These next couple elections will very likely determine whether we continue to have representative government in this country, and the ability of the electorate to get accurate information in order to make informed decisions at the polls will significantly impact the outcome. It is something of a political gamble, though.
