Not for the first time I use the age-lens to take a look at the roster. Age is taken for the first of October '22. Only players 27 or younger.

                                          Brown (25)                                           Smith (23)

                                        Watkins (24)                                        Goedert (27)

                       Mailata (25)   Dickerson (24)   Jurgens (23)   Herbig (24)   Driscoll (25)

                                                           Hurts (24)      Sanders (25)

Damn, that's a lot of competent youth. Heck if you ignore old man Goedert all of them will be 25 or younger this season.

I'd argue as is this offense can win games. Still Hurts and Sanders got something to prove this season.

                                    Barnett (26)     Davis (22)     Williams (23)    Sweat (25)

                                                              Dean (21)    Taylor (24)

                                  McPhearson (24)         Maddox (26)           Vincent (23)

                                                  Epps (26)                        Wallace (25)

Reddick barely fell out because he turns 28 on the 22nd of September. Defense obviously looks less rosy.

DL could use some more firepower but especially the secondary looks terrible. But I'd say this looks very much possible to solve moving forward.

Obviously this would mean both Hurts and Sanders take a huge step forward or we'd need to upgrade there too.

Wishlist then: Find four young players for the secondary. Then add two more players to both lines (DE, DT, RT, RG)

The rebuild is well underway. The offense is set minus the QB position. Every other position on offense is good to go for 4-5 years.

On the defensive side:

The LBs are set, for the first time in more than a decade. Dean/White/Taylor/Edwards is as good as we can possibly get under Howie.

The D-Line requires 1 more edge, it is then set for the next 5+ years.

The secondary needs a complete rebuild. Maybe one of the young CBs emerge, but we need at the very least 3 new players there.

Haven't given up on Hurts. Have my doubts about Sanders. I'd like to see Herbig and Driscoll upgraded and have them as backups eventually.

Still that's not really urgent, defense has more pressing needs.

Crazy enough, and without investing that much into it.

I think we need another DT too. Williams is perfect as #3 but Hargrave is 29 already.

Agreed, this is the biggest area that needs to be improved, both in the now and in the future.

If I factor the veterans back in I'd say at this point in time we should draft DE+CB in the first and Safety in the second next year.

What are the chances Sanders is with the Eagles after this season?

Need a QB and Secondary.  A DC and HC.  Other than that....we're set.

I haven't written off Sirriani yet.  Year 2 has always been critical with coaches. Saw Chip & Doug go in opposite directions. That said I'm not sold yet either.

If he communicates more like a HC and less like a 16 year old, I will start to open my mind.  Until then.

I'll say 30% chance

I'm not sure Lane has 4-5 years left in him.  He has been battling through numerous injuries over the past few years.  If he is still here in 2026-2027 I have a feeling he will be looking like Peters did his last couple seasons here.  But definitely agree we need (at least) one more edge and a complete rebuild of the secondary.

I like to think I sounded more intelligent when I was 16

It’s arguably a prove-it season for Hurts, Sanders and maybe even Watkins.

If Sanders is hurt again he’s almost certainly gone. Plus I expect Gainwell and Brooks to look pretty good.

Someone obviously watered your flower quite a bit more as an adolescent.

Don't be mean to Coach Spicoli

I don't believe it's a prove it season for Watkins. He played well last year considering it was his first full season as a pro with a garbage qb throwing to him

He’s had some very promising moments and a few poor drops. But if he has some bad games he may well lose his spot to Pascal.

I don't believe so. He's a lock to start imo

About the same as Hurts, less than 50%

Next year we're looking at QB, DE, CB, S. Minimum. Maybe even multiple picks at those defensive positions not including what else pops up. RT and RG come to mind as unexpected positions.

It will depend on how well he plays and if he can stay healthy. His other issues is he’s a home run threat that doesn’t get into the end zone, can’t stay healthy, has fumble problems, drops passes, but thinks he’s one of the best in the league. I’d say if all of these trends continue about 20%. I could see Howie brining him back despite all this for the right price and cause he has a hard time giving up on guys.

I was fine with pushing off RB this year. Sanders, Gainwell, Scott plus a vet or Brooks is fine. RB to me is the absolute last position that can be added. Next year all defensive, seems like we say that nearly every year, maybe more o-line depending on Johnson, Seumalo and the RG situation. I'm fine with a day 3 RB next year then possibly in 2024 target a guy on day 2.
