anyone else see this?

Yup he's bulked up, too bad that hasn't helped him learn how to play RT...

I still expect Howie finds a way to trade him, especially if he stays healthy and shows out in pre season or if a team loses a starting LT.

It's good to see that he's putting in work instead of just pouting on the bench.

Obligatory (insert player name here) bulked up/leaned out in the offseason thread.

He got owned last year in the competition between him and Mialata. If he has any shot to stay it’s going to be at RT and he better show he’s at least competent there. Rumors are the Eagles aren’t planning to pick up his option. My guess is he gets a lot of looks at RT to prove if he can do it.

Isn’t he moving to guard?

If they aren't going to trade him they might as well try him to RG and see if he can win that job.

1st round physique 5th round talent

Workout pictures and a training camp full of hype.  That's the last, but mandatory step before solidifying bust status.  No one skips it.

Dillard is a solid LT and we’re lucky to have him as a back-up there. If he could learn to be a decent RT he’d be a great asset. That said, I suspect we have a plan to get a DB post June 1st, and he may be a part of that.

Eagles unload him for a 3rd and a 5th at some point.

Keep posting the sauna pics!

Didn't even think about it, but when I heard that idea it felt to me like it would just make sense.

He might be a really good guard.

I don’t get the Dillard hate. He’s played well at LT when he’s had a chance. He’s just unfortunate to have a monster in front of him on the depth chart.

Cool. Flip him for a 4th

Agreed. and to the person who said he got owned in the LT competition last year, he actually played well, Mailata is just a complete beast. he has real trade value and i thought they would trade him during the draft to recoup a pick. As you said, someone will get an injury there and will come calling.

He does have above average pass rush skills, but he’s not a good run blocker and he’s not very versatile. Good to see he’s in the gym bulking up though.

Timing is everything.  Who can forget the Sam Bradford trade fleecing of the Vikes.

If this is true.. regardless of all the "bust/it doesn't matter" stuff....to add 15 pounds of body weight.. while cutting body fat by 5% is seriously impressive.

He shouldn't have been chosen in the 1st. But, this wasn't a Watkins type of situation. He struggled through his 1st camp and got injured. Then, they drafted Mailata who was such a unicorn that Dillard got leapfrogged and benched. He kept working and grinding. When he played in games, he was more than serviceable and adequate. Now, since they aren't picking up his 5th year option. I hope Howie "The Golden Fleece" Roseman can flip him for a 4th that can become a 3rd. A 4th alone is fine too.

Adam Caplan said he heard they would like him to take at least some snaps at guard, so it’s not just us thinking that might be a good idea.

What  did Howie ever see in this guy.

That’s the right deal. He’s a solid starting LT for someone in this league and he should be given the chance to play. We shouldn’t part with a potential starting LT for less than a conditional third or else we keep him as a back-up and work on his ability to also back-up RT in training camp.

Looks ripped?   We are too early for "best shape of his life" posts. If only being a workout warrior meant he would be improved on the field.

I'm highly disappointed we did not flip him during the draft, but I would be hesitant to trade him at this point.  He's a capable backup and if (when) he signs elsewhere next offseason we will get a comp pick.  I'm thinking neighborhood 4th round comp pick.  So, unless somebody wants to come and give us something better than a 4th round pick, he's an Eagle this season.

I couldn't find the article I read years ago, but they didn't even interview him or see him at his pro day or bring him in for private workouts.  They thought he would go in the top 10.  Stoutland and Douglas liked him, they thought he was the top OT in the draft.  So when he fell, they traded up for him without really doing all the usual interviews with him they just based it on the scouting report.

Usually you would be right with this, but with Dillard I’m not so sure. His knock wasn’t really how he blocks and the mental it was more is he tough enough, can he stop people coming at him with brute force..

I’d say he already was a decent LT and bulking up may well combat his biggest flaws. At this point I don’t think we will get what he’s worth for him and would rather keep him.
