May 4, 20223 yr Stoutland and the scouts said he was very athletic. Kelce and Lane Johnson both said he was a great athlete but that he needed to be more aggressive. The knock on him isn't being in shape or an athlete, it's his toughness both physically and mentally. It probably doesn't help his confidence that he was a 1st round pick, the Eagles traded up for him and he lost his job to a 7th round Australian rugby project who never played football before.
May 4, 20223 yr Dillard will eventually be a starting LT in the NFL somewhere. He'll have a few years learning under Stoutland, probably get some game time if Mailata gets injured or misses a couple games. And Howie may be able to trade him at the deadline for a team that lost their starter. The Dillard hate around here is ridiculous. Everybody knew Mailata was a freak but almost nobody thought he would turn into what he has...Dillard's injuries and slow adaptation to the NFL cost him his spot. But he'll be in the NFL for a while.

May 5, 20223 yr He’s not a bust. He’s a legit left tackle he’s just never had a chance to develop considering he sat behind a hall of famer then got beat by a freak of nature lol. Dillard will be fine and is awesome insurance.

Eagles sure seem to love taking mentally weak individuals with their 1st rd picks. Maybe they should include mental toughness in their scouting report because its becoming quite the trend. Wentz, Reagor, Dillard, etc. Jalen Hurts may be a mediocre talent at QB but he certainly isn't mentally weak.

Please, the Jason Peters he sat behind was a broken down shadow of the hall of famer, Dillard was drafted to take over from Peters who couldn't play full games any more and was going to be moved to Guard, instead of taking over Dillard was used to spell Peters in most games his rookie season (which should've been a development opportunity), in 2020 he ruptured a bicep so we had to give Peters another year playing a hollow rendition of himself, then Dillard lost a straight competition to start against a guy who only started playing the game at 20 years old, and is now in competition to be the Swing Tackle against a 4th Round pick. If Dillard was any sort of starting tackle he'd have won the job the year he was drafted, he's a good depth guy, but honestly not much better than Driscoll in pass protection if at all.

Peters certainly wasn’t on top of his game anymore but I am not confident the Eagles were making fair decisions based on skill only. Best man gets the job was often said but rarely reality then.

It would help him if were able to learn more than one position. He's not such a dominant left tackle that being able to play more than one position wouldn't enhance his value.
