Andrew Berry, who had no business being hired as the Browns GM (he was hired because of a combination of having gone to Harvard, being on the younger side of 40, and satisfying Rooney Rule quotas) is hiring away Catherine Raiche from the Eagles to be Assistant to the GM in Cleveland.  I mean, her vast years of playing experience combined with her vast number of years working in the industry no doubt qualify her for this job - right?  My take, who cares - she was only hired in Philly because she was a woman.  Just as the Eagles don't miss the loss of Andrew Berry, they similarly won't miss Raiche.

Report: Eagles' Catherine Raiche to Join Browns in Prominent Front-Office Role

Do we get draft picks for this?

No. She wasn’t hired as a GM.

If Weidl gets hired as the Steelers GM, do we get draft pick compensation?

I think only if they hire a minority.

This is an extremely sexist claim to make.  For all you know, she may be extremely qualified.  She did draw interest from other organizations as well, right?

Suck on it.  She's a 33 year old with no playing experience.  If you feel the need to walk on eggshells when criticizing moves made by the Browns, you won't get far in life.  Raiche ain't no Dawn Aponte who has years of NFL experience.

Why not give us examples of all those under 35 types who set the world on fire as GMs

(And no, there are no reports I saw showing interest from other organizations - just the Brownies)

Wait, so you have to have playing experience to be in a front office?  Because from what I understand, 20% of GMs--including Howie Roseman--never played in college.  Raiche did not appear out of nowhere, but has years of experience now in the CFL and NFL.  Her administrative and evaluation skills are what got her jobs in a sexist industry long before the expansion of the Rooney Rule.

Also, the Vikings tried to poach her earlier, so there seems to be something positive about her experience and skills:

Also, Brett Veach was only several years older than Raiche when he became the assistant gm in Kansas City.

Who

In any case if we just keep drafting guys from the National Championship team who are known by the world to be good then we should be alright.

We'll miss you Catherine!!

The world keeps turning. Plenty of young, smart and hungry people to fill positions. Next up.

Howie needs to bring in Rick Spielman or Rick Smith to be his number 2 if Weidl leaves. Both are excellent talent evaluators.

You mean Raiche played football the way Brett Veach did?

From the looks of the Vikes recent draft, that would be consistent with a team that hires an under 35 something because he went to Princeton.

So now experience is a 4 letter word.  FWIW, Howie took quite a few years before he caught on as a good GM.  Go take a look at how Andrew Berry mucked up the Baker Mayfield situation - hallmark of youthful inexperience.  Go take a look at the train wreck of the Vikings draft.

Many of these people aren't qualified because of their age, sex or race - but they sure are being hired into high profile positions because of it.  At the end of the day, actual qualifications will ultimately move the bar.  My prediction is that the Browns organization will continue to be dysfunctional mess that its been, and that Kwesi will flop as GM for the Vikings and is well on his way if the current draft is any indication.  (I got a kick reading an article in the Minn. Star Tribune effectively trashing the results of Kwesi's draft but walking on eggshells with him because he's some protected class - as if in football, you're not allowed to trash the GM if he or she is in a protected class.  SMH).

Right so unless an organisation hires a 45 year old heterosexual white man with some sort of playing experience, it's tokenism and discrimination against old white dudes?

Did you used to wear an onion on your belt because that was the style at the time?

Yah, that whole experience thing is just soooo overrated

Would be an interesting case if, imagine, most coaches when they’ve done enough with their career try to move into becoming GM.  Wonder if a woman might try to move from GM to coach… it’s a ways off obviously but still

I couldn’t imagine Howie Roseman coaching, although that is just 1 case.

@Procus looks like you pissed off all the PC turds
