The extension deadline was July 15th. So giving up resources for a player that may not even be here in 2023 is not a great idea. With Howie you can never say never but this is far less likely after the Tartt signing, IMO. Also this guy is going to want a massive extension and I don't see the Eagles paying that kind of money. They lost out on Marcus Williams this past offseason so clearly they have a salary ceiling at safety. If we needed a single DB to put us over the top then maybe you could justify it but we all know the Eagles generally de-prioritize that position group.

Fair points, but he is just 25 and that changes things. Him and Epps (26) would give us some serious starter level safety play. And Tartt plus Harris would be excellent veteran backups to them.

That we tried for Williams only shows that they would like a big play at safety and this is a good one.

Unfortunatly the Bengals are hard to deal with- but with QB and WR contracts on the horizon for them, would they really not trade him if a good offer arises?

Signed the tag, will most likely be a FA next year.

Maybe we can get him then.

lol, for Derwin James money? Good luck. You don't invest money into safeties. You draft them and replace them through the draft, just like Cincinnati's doing with Dax Hill.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear the Eagles in the mix for him next offseason but ultimately getting outbid. Just like they were with multiple FA safeties this past offseason.

According to the media we are in the mix for every top FA or trade bait player

The Eagles don’t, really.

A big veteran contract may be the best we can hope for.. remember Bates is very young so in this case it would give us a very good, young player.

I think we can lock these S threads up for now
