BFit Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 why isnt this a thing? maybe not completely fund, but supplement the funding atleast. Giant Food Stores Presents the 174th commencement. The 2022 Senior Prom brought to you by Trojan. slap a Wawa goose on the football teams jersey and have them pay for them. i always hear about things getting cut from school budgets, or not having the funds for this or that, so why not sell advertising space. Hell, is anyone going to mad that their kid made the Hershey's Honor roll, got a Gatorade Lettermans jacket or made the Debate Team powered by Google?
Gannan Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Public charters work that way. When I lived in North Carolina (where the public schools are a national disgrace) they had several privately funded public charters. The one where I sent my daughter was funded by a private foundation but was free to attend. She just had to win a lottery to get in.

I've wondered if public schools would have any success soliciting donations from former graduates like many private schools do, especially high profile successful graduates. I don't know if it would work but I've never heard of it being tried.

20dawk4life Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 There is probably some rule about not being able to accept a high level of donations from a single company if they aren’t doing all the schools in the city or something. Public schools are supposed to be equal aren’t they? 1

mr_hunt Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 i read something about a beverage company (either pepsi or coke...i can remember) sponsoring or donating to a school in return for the school pushing their products in their soda machines, cafeteria, etc. i imagine more sheet like that would occur.
