EAGLES NEWS: JALEN HURTS AND AJ BROWN RANKED TOP-10 IN NEW QB-WR DUOS

There’s a great deal of hype surrounding the Eagles heading into next season, and star receiver AJ Brown is a big reason why.

Philadelphia acquired Brown’s services during the 2022 NFL Draft, sending first and third-round picks to Tennessee. One of the factors that went into pursuing Brown was his long-standing relationship with starting QB Jalen Hurts.

"Really excited to get him just in terms of how [Sirianni] can use him and his vision for A.J. Brown in this offense and how he complements the other guys that we have here,” Eagles GM Howie Roseman said on draft night. "As you guys may or may not know, his relationship with our quarterback — all exciting things. Looking forward to getting him into Philadelphia.”

Brown has been dominant since entering the league in 2019, totaling 185 receptions for nearly 3,000 yards and 24 touchdowns. Just before offseason workouts began, Brown was spotted catching passes from Hurts.

Now the two will be donning the same jersey next season.

Just how good will they be in their first year together? NFL.com recently released their top 10 new QB-WR duos heading into the 2022 season and have the Hurts-Brown ranked 7th, just behind Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill in Miami:

"Brown’s presence will make life easier for Hurts, who enters a pivotal season attempting to prove he’s the long-term solution under center. Hurts displayed a dual-threat ability in 2021, his first season as a full-time starter, but he missed too many throws, generating a passer rating of 87.2. Brown’s ability to win in tight spaces and generate yards after the catch adds a dimension to the offense that was missing last season.”

"Much like Tua, Hurts needs a strong season. The pairing of Brown and Smith ratchets up the passing game to make Philly one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL if everyone stays healthy.”

The Pro Bowl WR has eclipsed 1,000 yards in two of his first three seasons in the NFL and plays like a running back with the ball in his hands. The addition of Brown provides an accomplished, big-bodied threat who will bring elite YAC ability to Sirianni’s offense.

After a turbulent 2021 campaign, all eyes will be on Hurts in what may be his final audition to win over the Eagles franchise. If his flashes from OTA’s translate to the regular season, Philadelphia can continue to build the team rather than find a new QB next spring.
