What does a 14 year-old kid have to do/say to get put on a FBI watch list?

It's never the time to talk about it, always with the thoughts and prayers.   Cause we've seen how well thought and prayers work......guess God just likes slaughtered kids

Didn't take long to start the school year.

Well, thoughts and prayers are good enough for Trump's ear, they are good enough here. No need to do anything that might curtail this behavior.

Oh sure, the trampling injuries of folks fleeing getting shot, should in no way reflect on the gun industry, or guns in general.

Weird, huh?

School shooters aren't illegals, and pedos seem not to be trannies.

Holy sheet, toaster goes into libtard overdrive over this one. Manages to sneak in support for trannies in schools and race baiting during his manic state. Impressive.

Likely that he wants to shoot up a school

Good.

The FBI get multiple tips the kid threatened to shooting up a school.

The FBI questions the kid and father.
Kid denies it,

dad says he only has hunting rifles and the kid is never around them unsupervised.

Dad buys kid an AR type rifle for Christmas.

WTF.

The FBI's Atlanta Division Wednesday night said that it had received threats last year involving then-13-year-old Colt Gray, the suspect in Wednesday's shooting at Apalachee High School.

In May of 2023, the National Threat Operations Center received anonymous tips about online threats to commit a school shooting at an unidentified location and time, FBI Atlanta posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Just another failure.

The FBI/government can't jail every person who's reported as someone who may seem dangerous. I'm not sure what you expect the FBI to do here unless you want marshall law as the norm.

The kid’s father is an accessory to murder. it makes me sick there is an entire industry in this country ready to defend the guy who helped his son kill school children.

It's a ef'd up situation. But are you prepared to allow the government to incarcerate every kid who fits this profile?

Seems an overreach.

Maybe, just spitballing, but maybe common sense gun restrictions might help.

I don't think a scenario like this is something that legislation can fix.

Not saying they should. Just another case of another shooter with a history of threats. The US has a serious problem, and the answer is not wearing AR-15 pins and supporting the gun lobby.

Maybe the GOP attitude towards shootings is the problem. "They're a fact of life."

Only because we refuse to address the problem in any meaningful way.

I'm glad they charged the parent. Accountability is a start.

The father bought the kid the weapon AFTER the FBI came visiting?

That can't be true, can it?

All this dem "we have to take teh guns!" stuff falls a little flat after the Biden admin literally catches and releases dangerous gang affiliated illegals into the US on a daily basis. And they don't really care at all.

Yeah, no. You still can't take the guns, losers.

That's the report. Totally irresponsible gun ownership. Results 2 students and 2 teachers dead. He has to face the consequences.

The fact is when there was ban on guns like the AR-15 mass shootings went down. Yet somehow, Maga makes it sound like there are no other guns in the world. If we ban the AR-15 what will we do? How can we defend ourselves? The sky is falling.

It's pretty clear to me that Maga supports the murder of children and are not willing to do anything about it. Guns are more important.

If the FBI comes to your house and tells you your kid has been making online threats, then you turn around and hand him a loaded AR15...yes you are guilty.

A responsible parent would know if his/her kid is troubled in any way, and a responsible gun owner keeps his/her guns locked up at all times.  I'm glad prosecutors are starting to go after the parents - hopefully it will wake some people up.

Have to go after the parents.  Absolutely no reason a 14 year old should be able to access guns without their parents knowledge.  Put it in a safe and don't let the kid know the combination.

I take it you're not familiar with the conviction of both parents of the Oxford, MI shooter.

TL/DR: Parents are dumb in general, but these trumpbot gun nut parents are even dumber.

It's far dumber than that. This moron allegedly bought his troubled 14 yr old kid an assault rifle after they both had already been inteviewed by the FBI local cops months prior. An interview that was arranged after kids and the school someone tipped them off that he had been making threats online to shoot up that school. So this isn't negligence, it's defiance. Big daddy government isn't gonna accuse him of being mentally ill or tell me what my son can or can't do so I'm gonna buy him a gun anyway because they can't tread on me!

EDIT: It was local authorities that inteviewed them after being tipped off by the FBI. And it seems the FBI got wind of this from threats made on a social media account, but it's not clear who reported the threats to FBI. It wasn't the school tipping them off.

Maybe mandatory counseling followed up with home inspections ?  Without any charges though it won’t stand.

I don’t think he should have been incarcerated. I believe the FBI did the right thing by informing the local authorities, but the local  police, school, and the father failed to do their jobs and failed this kid. The father’s actions were criminal, the school and police should come away with a lot of lessons learned. This kid should have been evaluated and monitored much more than he was. Too many red flags were brushed off, and mental health issues are still ignored by the toxic right. "Man up” is a failed mental health remedy.
