I consider this important Eagles news for all the out-of-market members of Eagles nation but mods, please move or let me know if it belongs somewhere else.

This is a huge step in the sea change for sports broadcasts across the board.  So, if you live out of market and want to watch the Eagles, pump up that broadband starting next year.

In Canada we have had Sunday Ticket on streaming for a few years now.

The delivery service, DAZN, is terrible though, constant lag and it is at least 10-20 secs behind the live feed.

goodbye DIRECTV

Yup At&t killed that

This is not really news, everyone knew this was coming for the last year with all the talks out there about Apple, Amazon and even Disney. If someone was not aware of this then they dont follow football.

It's been streaming in the US also but also had same lag issues, over-priced, terrible customer service etc. Long overdue to switch to a competent streaming service, and hopefully with team specific packages that make sense.

It’s news because now it’s real.  And football is just the tip of the iceberg.

Fun fact:  porn sites emerged about 25 years ago and employed the best coders in the world to accelerate the development of  a) streaming video and b) online commerce.  Shortly after,  other major players jumped in and it became a sea change.  Amazon and YouTube emerged. This is that. Traditional football platforms like ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and their affiliates are on the endangered species list.

Eh they just signed 11 year deals and have broadcast rights through the 2033 season. They are safe, for now.

I miss the old C Band days, before Sunday Ticket, where you could watch all of the games commercial free.

What the hell did they do when they were on time out and half time?

They ran through replays, discussed how drunk they got the night before, their dog's vet appointment... or just sat there silently waiting for the break to be over.

I pay for DirecTV at my place back home in the US for my family but here in the Middle East where I work I'm not able to watch Sunday ticket. I can VPN and watch regular DirecTV but I tried 2 different VPN's (Nord and SurfShark) and the Sunday Ticket app knows I'm using VPN then blocks me. I've been getting by with a super unreliable choppy stream site that some people here probably use also but that sucks.

I still do like the antenna option for places wires or towers can’t reach

Ok , I guess it time to move back to the Philly area.

That seems to be the thinking at sites like broadbandreports.com and Xfinity's forums among others as well. If the 'Big 3' networks lose sports I'm not sure how they'll keep the lights on. "Primetime programming"? Please. If they continue in their present content it'll be in a shrunken form. Only my opinion of course.

As far as porn sites leading the way, the same has been said about the impact of porn in the VHS vs. Beta war.

Finally!  I could literally stream games on my phone while travelling in China but I couldn't watch them here in RI.  The Direct TV era was infuriating.

Thank god for the Youtube guy that streams the cell phone video of his TV.

Will it be an additional purchase beyond just the streaming service?

Hopefully we'll be able to just get a single team's games with whoever the new provider is. With all the primetime and nationally televised games we have Sunday Ticket is really not the best value for those of us out of market. I pay $320 a year to watch anywhere from 8-10 Eagles out of market games. I know there are (or were) workarounds but I don't really feel like doing that and I shouldn't have to.

I also suspect that, with a 17 game season, the price will be going up. It didn't last year but it feels inevitable, especially with the talk of expanding even beyond to a possible 18 game season.

I can't remember the guy's name...he just automatically comes up on my feed now when a game is live.  You have to ignore his personal commentary and the bong on the coffee table...but it's free.

Does that actually matter?  I assume if you're streaming it, it's because you don't have access to the live feed.

Roger made the point when announcing this that the streamers will be contractually prohibited from lowering the price. I'd love to be able to buy the Eagles-only package as well, and maybe a few other high-interest games over the course of the season that aren't televised locally but that doesn't seem to be in the cards, either.

Not gonna happen.  At the end of the day, over the air, free TV will always have a viewers, as plenty of folks can not afford cable.

All Sunday Ticket does is give you the opportunity to see other local CBS and Fox broadcasts.

Fewer than 2 million people sign up for Sunday ticket.  Philadelphia v Atlanta week 1 last year had 11.18 million viewers.  Local broadcasting gets the majority of viewers.

I agree, you can't GROW a fanbase on a pay per, or streaming service.

Lots of people will give up on chasing the games.  First signs of streaming trouble will turn off plenty of people.  It wouldn't even have to be the streaming service's fault.  Even if its someone's WIFI reception that's to blame, it'll start losing viewers.

Then on top of that, once you get used to watching it on a streaming service, you start to get used to watching other, potentially better things that streaming offers....why would you want to promote that.

It'll stay on over the air TV.   That's where the easy money is made.
