I pay for DirecTV at my place back home in the US for my family but here in the Middle East where I work I'm not able to watch Sunday ticket. I can VPN and watch regular DirecTV but I tried 2 different VPN's (Nord and SurfShark) and the Sunday Ticket app knows I'm using VPN then blocks me. I've been getting by with a super unreliable choppy stream site that some people here probably use also but that sucks.

Best site I've found

Just got this from DirecTV:

That would suck if they were able to be the highest bidder and keep it IMO

Here's to hoping they're just giving subscribers a free season during the move to whoever buys it

DirectTV is quite possibly the king of terrible customer service.

I'm currently in a loop trying to sign onto my Sunday Ticket account. I sign on DirectTV Sunday Ticket which automatically logs me out and redirects me to sign into ATT.com, which I do and then automatically redirects me to DirectTV which automatically logs me out and redirects me to sign into ATT.com.

So they have you right where they want you...the vortex.

They said when at&t bought direct tv they had no intentions of adding to it and wanted nothing to do with it other then to put it out of it's misery. They weren't kidding lol.

Here's another one (h/t Front Office Sports):

NFL+ anyone?

The NFL is evolving its media strategy to meet the modern fan.

The league’s chief media and business officer Brian Rolapp confirmed on Monday in a column for Sports Illustrated that the NFL is launching its own streaming service, NFL+.

"NFL+ will provide fans access to live local and national NFL games on mobile devices, live out-of-market preseason games across all devices, live local and national audio for every game, NFL Network shows on demand, NFL Films archives and more — providing football flexibility so fans never have to miss football again,” Rolapp wrote.

  • The streaming service will live within the NFL app.
  • Previous reports stated that the service could cost $5 per month.
  • After its latest round of media deals, NFL games will also appear on streaming services Paramount+, Peacock, ESPN+, and Amazon Prime Video, which holds exclusive rights to "Thursday Night Football.”

For $5? Wow. Wasn't expecting that

Ah. We had DirecTV before the merger crap and customer service was excellent. So was our reception until a poplar tree got too tall.:P

Had Directv for about 7 years.  Never had a problem watching tv at all.  The customer service, however, was the biggest pile of crap ever.

Didn’t want a satellite on my house and used Verizon for my actual cable.  Cancelled DirecTV in the NFL offseason.

A streaming service would be a welcomed change.

This is too good to be true. What's the catch?

Creeping price hikes that will have you cursing it in a few years

IIRC gamepass was around $25 years ago and then they increased the price big time

So it wouldn't surprise me if they did a price hike

They're gonna charge what the traffic will bear, same as any other business. I don't know that anybody knows what a service like NFL+ should cost so I imagine they'll keep raising the price until subscriber numbers decline. Or they may have levels of service.

All games are streamed via the use of a series of still images, taken one every 35 seconds with an audio delay of 7 minutes.

I thought the same thing. My guess is it will offer a game or two a week but nothing that will compete with Sunday Ticket (by design).  They say the "audio" of all games, which implies the video feeds will be limited.

It’s a bunch of fluff you don’t need, unless you cut the cord and don’t have an antenna for local channels.

*Live local and National games. Who cares, already get that on Fox, CBS, NBC etc.

*Out of market preseason games. Meh. Useful for 3 weeks out of the year at best for out of market people.

*Audio. Meh. Don’t care.

*NFL shows, don’t care.

Doesn't seem they offer replays or live streaming for out of market. Personally not even worth the $5 per month imo.

The catch is that it’s only giving you the games that you can get OTA with an antenna. LOCAL and the national game for each time slot. Doesn’t address the same market as Sunday Ticket which is for out of market fans to get their own team’s game.

If by limited you mean non-existent, then you are correct.

That actually wouldn't be a bad deal for me. I don't get all my locals OTA. Only Fox and ABC come in reliably, so I have to pay for streaming cable that is way more expensive than this. Of course there is the concern of price creep but unless it goes upwards of $50 I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Yeah but you get them on your phone.  That's where all this is going.  And it sounds like there might be select out-of-market games available but this is designed to compliment Sunday Ticket, not compete with it.

I'm a big proponent of OTA content but I can't get a signal from any market where my house is.  I have to watch local TV on cable or satellite but when this launches and Sunday Ticket moves to Apple, I can drop those and watch everything via broadband.

If the system can be fooled by a VPN, then it might be worth the money for some.
