July 30, 20223 yr Still think Safety is an issue and the depth at receiver isn’t that great after Watkins. If one of the top two guys go down we are basically back to the Reagor days. TE is also an issue. I think there’s a lot of potential there, but it’s a heap load of unproven players.

Volume is going to continue to be an issue with Hurts at QB. I don't see the team going more pass heavy. And now with AJ Brown added to the mix, Goedert's opportunities will only decrease. I think the numbers show that Goedert is an elite TE when he is given opportunity. That just won't be the case with this offense though.
August 1, 20223 yr Do people realize that the only real weapon we've added to our offense is AJ Brown? We got all the same guys pretty much as last year. Is that enough? Does Brown by himself elevate this offense from 9 wins to 11 wins or more? Is he that impactful of a player? And let's not forget it takes two, Hurts has to get the ball to him.

We also got Zach Pascal and Grant Calcaterra and Cam Jergens. With adding AJ Brown and Pascal, we gain a real premium WR in Brown and hopefully see less of Jalen Reagor. I think AJ Brown draws a lot of attention and that creates single coverage for other receivers and TE. Jergens is a backup for now. Maybe we see some Calcaterra in 2 TE sets. On defense, we made additions across the board and should have better performance.

August 1, 20223 yr I'm iffy about Safety, but Goedert's stats have been more about limitations of either the offense or the QB. TE2 should be fine, on par with other teams. I'm high on Gainwell, so I don't think RB is an issue. I am a little worried about a Bradberry-Nnamdi situation. Similar body type. aging, etc.

He will definitely miss practices and reps. Hopefully he's back in a couple weeks or so before training camp and final cuts. Maybe we see him in a preseason game.

The defense added a ton of talent and that can help with field position and turnovers, which can give the offense at more opportunistic chances. I know a lot of guys don't like Hurts......but he was basically a rookie since he had to learn Sirianni's offense, had no OTA's last year and didn't play in the preseason. And yes, a guy like Brown can open up opportunities for the other receivers.......and Hurts has to be able to find those guys and deliver the ball. As far as wins are concerned.......they have to play the games. Nobody knows how players will develop......what 2nd or 3rd year guys have a breakout year......what guys coming off IR will do. The biggest concern, after Hurts, is if the eagles defense can mesh quickly in the year.......and that could change the whole trajectory of the season.
August 1, 20223 yr D-Line as a whole for me. This group could be the best in the league but could also massively underachieve. Tons of question marks. Cox and BG are in their final chapter Is Sweat really pro bowl caliber? Barnett worth anything in year 6? What’s Reddick’s role? Is Hargrave going to be consistent? Does Davis make an immediate impact? Does Milton Williams prove to be a valuable rotational guy? If this group plays well. The team is a 10 win team, imo.
August 1, 20223 yr Obviously the numbers were down last year as a team in sacks. Getting Graham back is big. I can maybe see us only keeping for defensive ends. Graham, Sweat, Barnett, and the 4th Tarron Jackson.
August 2, 20223 yr I don't think the WRs are as good as the investment we have in them or as good as the hype. I don't think they'll get good enough QB play for it to matter, but I think they are merely good and not as game-changing as we think. Will the left side of the OL just create a bunch of highlights tossing people around in the running game, or will they actually evolve into high reliability, lock-down pass protectors? For all the hype, they aren't there yet in pass protection. Again, tough to notice that when the QB just rolls right on every play, but it would otherwise be a meaningful weakness. Do we actually have any dangerous pass rushers, or just a bunch of pretty good hustle/coverage/hurry guys?

Hopefully you’re right and this one will resolve before the regular season, at least.

He was reportedly on the short list for HC gigs this offseason but decided to stay. Agreed on safety but the whole defense needs to improve. With that said, I think the improvement at LB and CB (on paper anyway) should help but we’ll see.
August 2, 20223 yr So is Nakobe Dean not so much of a steal after all? Looks like hes nowhere ready to become a starter. So maybe we got decent third round value but nothing more.

Goedert is considered an elite TE - top 10 at worst, but I don't always see it. His statistics are impressive, but he doesn't score enough TDs. In fact, he was 17th in TDs last year. After Goedert, there's absolutely no depth. How thin is the position? They're trying to salvage JJAW's career by having him learn the part. All 6'2 and 220lbs of him. 2. Running back. Miles Sanders regressed last year despite the focus on the running game in the second half of the season. He didn't score a single touchdown. Not one. You could argue that he didn't get enough touches last year, considering his high average per attempt, but there's a reason the coaching staff fed the ball to everyone else: he runs side to side instead of hitting the hole hard. Sanders isn't even a top 25 back. After him, they seem to like Gainwell and Scott. 3. Punter. Siposs is the only punter on the roster, but surely they'll bring in some competition at some point. He's statistically one of the 4 or 5 worst punters in the league, and it shows. I think Goeddert is a good starting TE in the league and has pro bowl potential. As for lack of depth, what kind of depth did we really have in 2017? Trey Burton was a good backup, but nothing special. We'll see if the 6th round pick can stick I guess. Agree re running back - but my biggest concern is the lack of a power back. Eagles really need a bruiser. The team was different when Jordan Howard was playing. Agree re punter. Not sure why a replacement or at least competition hasn't been brought in for Siposs.
August 4, 20223 yr So I’m curious. What does Jalen Hurts have to do I order to get the godlike adoration that some around give the Commanders quarterback? Does he need to watch another quarterback win the super bowl with him on the sidelines as a pouting malcontent? Does he need to never win a playoff game? Does he need a big arm that basically throws into triple coverage at the most inopportune times. Does he need to throw for 4000 yards, but take his team nowhere and win 9 games? Does he need to never take any accountability for any of his own mistakes and force his way out of town? Is it for people to claim that he won an MVP award that he actually didn’t win? What does Jalen gotta do to get love?
