Might as well start it now. I don't see this 3rd party going anywhere in 2024 or ever, but who knows?

CNN —

A group of former Republican and Democratic officials are forming a new political party called Forward, in an attempt to appeal to what they call the "moderate, common-sense majority.”

"Political extremism is ripping our nation apart, and the two major parties have failed to remedy the crisis,” David Jolly, Christine Todd Whitman and Andrew Yang wrote in a Washington Post op-ed published Wednesday. "Today’s outdated parties have failed by catering to the fringes. As a result, most Americans feel they aren’t represented.”

Jolly is a former Republican congressman from Florida, Whitman a former Republican governor of New Jersey and Yang is a former Democratic presidential and New York mayoral candidate. The three will merge their political organizations into the new party, whose launch was first reported by Reuters.

The group cites issues including guns, climate change and abortion as those that could benefit from a moderate approach. The new party will also advocate ranked-choice voting and open primaries, the end of gerrymandering, and nationwide protection for voting rights.

"Sixty-two percent of Americans now want a third party, a record high, because they can see that our leaders aren’t getting it done,” Yang told CNN’s Brianna Keilar on "New Day” on Thursday in a joint appearance with Whitman. "And when you ask about the policy goals, the fact is the majority of Americans actually agree on really even divisive issues. The most divisive issues of the day like abortion or firearms – there’s actually a commonsense coalition position on these issues and just about every other issue under the sun.”

Forward is planning a national convention next summer and will soon seek ballot access to run candidates in 2024, according to the Post op-ed.

They got my vote...who are they and what is their platform?

I like it but you’ll need a heavier hitter from the right than Christine Todd Whitman.

And there goes the sanity of Andrew Yang...

So Trump can commit all the crimes he wants because trying to hold him accountable is persecution? What in the actual F?

Man, just think of all the classified documents that aren't safe if we don't put this monster away!

Absolutely bananas. Yang might have had a point before Trump tried to unconstitutionally overturn a presidential election, but now? Yeah you can F right off with the notion that he's still deserving of the white glove treatment.

It'll actually be funny if that's what they finally get him for. His tax records appear to be next though.

he may be simply pointing out that for people who have bought into the cult's sales pitch, this just validates their delusions.

maybe.

If they're still in the cult after everything that has transpired during in the last 6 years, then they're too far gone and nothing will bring them back. Worrying about their perception of anything at this point is pointless.

The more I see of him, the more I realize that he really just isn't that bright. He's been on Real Time, and he can't discuss anything once it ventures off his memorized talking points.

Well, conservative radio today is really beating the drum of Trump being persecuted by Obama’s weaponized DOJ.  Unfortunately people buy it because they think Obama is the evil black guy.  The fact that he hasn’t been president for 5+ years doesn’t matter.

He’s right.

Regardless of level guilt, there are going to be millions (probably tens of millions) of Americans who see this as an unjust action that is completely politically motivated.

Basically, this better be something bulletproof and not another Russian collusion hoax that is 100% politically motivated.

Tens of millions of Americans also thought JFK Jr was gonna reappear at Dealey Plaza to appoint Trump as the true President. Nobody with a room temp IQ cares what you and the rest of these morons think.

At one point Yang's slogan MATH meant "Make America Think Harder". It turns out Yang is just as reactive as any empty Washington politician. LINK

Quote

First, MATH was not originally meant to an acronym. When we launched the hat, it meant mathematics. Soon, because the letters were in all caps, people thought it was an acronym. They came up with ideas, and Yang, for some reason, latched onto Make America Think Harder. I couldn’t have hated this deviation any more than I did. I fought Make America Think Harder to the death. There is a reason you never saw MATH spelled out in our campaign’s marketing materials or merchandise. MATH was original, Make America Think Harder is letting Trump set the tone, and being reactive, both of which mean you’re a loser in politics. Also, who the hell wants to wear Make America Think Harder? Don’t get me started on this!

Dang. And I thought I had found a candidate that knew me...

Anyone paying any attention to anything knows Trump as POTUS took documents to Mar-A-Lago that belong in the National Archives. It took years to get to this point! This is not some banana republic hit that came out of nowhere. All Trump had to do was return the documents they have been asking for all this time.

Clearly that is what he is saying.  However, he needs to do a better job of working out the optics.
