Blindsided veterans erupt in fury after Senate Republicans suddenly tank PACT Act

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/blindsided-veterans-erupt-fury-senate-republicans-suddenly-tank-pact-a-rcna40516

Quote

in a move that shocked and confused veteran groups Wednesday night, 41 Senate Republicans blocked the bill's passage, including 25 who had supported it a month ago.

Quote

The Senate passed the original legislation 84-14 in June. It underwent minor changes when it moved to the House, where it passed 342-88. When the bill returned to the Senate, the bill had not changed much but the view — and vote — of 25 senators did.

This is utter BS. There are LOTS of spending cuts to be made, but Fing over veterans is pathetic.

Congratulations Republicans! Way to go  <_<

Seems a simple enough fix. Just have the house pass the original version without the hundreds of billions in back door spending. Our veterans deserve it.

That's a nice gop talking point you've got there. The only problem with it is, the clauses they are all queefing about were in the version they already voted for.

Again with the facts, what is with YOU people?

Also as Stewart points out, it can't be used as a slush fund since the office of veterans affairs has oversight of it. Also the fact that these guys vote for slush funds quite literally all the time.

Yup.  It's blatant retaliation for the reconciliation bill.  They DGAF about what's in the bill, just that they vote against the Dems. Despicable.

Do you actually believe this nonsense when you post it?

guys, guys, he was just trolling.

It's easy to see in here why politicians continue to get away with it. Bipartisan legislation that benefits veterans gets passed by the senate. The house gets a hold of it and makes a major change that will give the politicians hundreds of billions of dollars more to spend on their pet projects, in the midst of historic inflation largely caused by government overspending, and sends it back to the senate. Republicans say, wait a minute, this isn't what we passed and we can't sign off on this cynical change that will exacerbate our massive problem with inflation. CVON code pink then activates and cries exactly what the politicians want them to cry, "OMG, Republicans don't care about veterans!!!!!" instead of realizing that if the house just put the politics aside for this one bill the veterans would get the help that they deserve. Disgraceful.

Overlooking the fact that what they object to now, they voted in favor of before.

Nice try, sweetie.

Please show us  where this additional funding you speak is found in the bill.  I’ll wait.

The OBJECTIONABLE parts of the bill, WERE INTRODUCED IN THE SENATE and the GOP voted to pass them.

I am SURE zuker has a wonderful explanation of what the HOUSE did.

Its called "lets get those dems for screwing us on the reconciliation bill, while at the same time screwing a big part of our base."
