It's Sunday July 31. I don't understand why the Eagles oly have 88 polayers on the active roster.

Why not bring in a punter and a big running back? If not the actually compete then to get a good look at potential injury replacements.

I think you’re overlooking the guys on PUP. They aren’t included in the 88 but they count against the 90 limit.

Thanks for the feedback, but I think that might not be the case. They have 88 on the active roster and 3 on PUP so your explaination does not compute.

Matt Leo is a roster exception and doesn't count against the 90.

Not sure, but Matt Leo might have an exemption as a foreigner, so he’d be the 91st player.

EMB solves a mystery once again!

A player on the PUP list counts against the 90-man roster during the preseason, but not the 53-man roster during the regular season.

Thanks folks . I've got it now. 88 on the active roster including Leo. That's 87, 3 on PUP  - thanks 90
