Posted August 8, 20223 yr I'm going to give the new iPhone a try when the new ones are released next month. Is the sweet spot the, iPhone Pro?
August 9, 20223 yr I’ve had the last few versions of the pro. More powerful, better camera, etc. I don’t like Max because the physical size is just obnoxiously large, and the screen on the regular Pro is plenty big enough and in al honesty is probably twice the size of what all of thought was "huge” 5-6 years ago when phones grew but still had physical buttons taking up space on the face of the phone.
August 9, 20223 yr I always go with the base model. Yes I’m cheap, but for me I just don’t need anything the Pro model offers for the substantial price increase. The camera on the iPhone 13 is more than good enough, and the battery gets me through the day. Beyond that, everything just works.

Someone with small hands would say this ^

I got my grandmother a free iPhone 8 3ish years ago by adding her phone onto my contract plan. She can text and send pics and take pics and upload to her socials this whole time and no reported issues yet. My guess is when people use the devices 5+ hours a day like many of us are guilty, it wont cut it. But when its getting like 1-2 hours a day of use, max, those phones seem to have some legs.

Yeah I mean there will always be a level of battery degradation after a few years but those older iPhones will keep working just fine for a long time. Hell I still have a 5th gen iPod Touch from like 2012 that still works like a champ. Yeah it’s a little slow because of the outdated hardware, but it works fine to use as a music player for my son. Apple stuff just lasts. That’s the main reason I made the leap from Android phones and Windows PCs to iPhone and Mac.
August 11, 20223 yr I don’t upgrade often and so when I do I usually just go for the highest because I expect to keep it for years. I have the 12 pro max. Before I had the 6s plus It fits in my pocket easily and doesn’t feel too small. I also like a bigger keyboard even though I still fat thumb it
August 11, 20223 yr AT&T on the sly 18-24 months ago switched their trade in credit on devices to 36 months. So it’s borderline impossible to get value from your device if you choose to do a trade prior to that. Now that I’m not teh poor I may just buy my next phone outright, allowing me to trade it in within a year and probably get 75% of its value you back in credit.
August 12, 20223 yr My lovely wife somehow lost BOTH key fobs since I returned back to work in May. When they get replaced I'm definitely getting some Apple AirTags for those mofos.

Yep, my experience has been the complete opposite. I’ve never had an Apple device of any kind die on me. In any case, it isn’t just about the phones not working anymore. Android phones have very short software update windows. Samsung I believe only pushes updates for three years to their phones. By comparison, the current version of iOS(15) is pushed out to phones as old as the iPhone 6s (released in 2016). It won’t get iOS 16, but that still gives it a full 6 years worth of software updates.
September 20, 20223 yr Author Day 3 of this new iPhone and Android is just a more efficient operating system.

September 21, 20223 yr I have the 13 Mini. I like the size, and the camera works well, but the zoom with the camera is subpar. I would get the size larger than the Mini the next time around because of the limit with the camera. But it is entirely sufficient otherwise.

My wife wanted to try an android about two years ago, just because. She quickly regretted it. We upgraded all our phones back in March and she’s back to an iPhone.
September 21, 20223 yr Android phones always feel like a dollar store version of an iPhone every time I need to use one. I'm sure a lot of it is familiarity - I've only ever actually owned iPhones and they've never given me a reason to switch.

Widgets are a game changer that Apple is still far behind in. Having a bookmark bar of websites you visit on your main screen is just so much more efficient
